How to Make Your Dream Wedding Come Alive
Posted by: | CommentsIt's finally come, you big day, the wedding of the century. But before you get to enjoy it many factors have to be considered. There are so many parts that are involved in a wedding and the most important ones can vary from person to person. The parts of weddings that are usually given the most thought are the venue, catering, photography, outfits, flowers, and entertainment .
The venue is important because it is where the wedding will take place. If you don't get it right, it can have a huge effect on the day. You must think about location, travel, space, decor and cost. There are many different venues to choose from such as hotels, castles, gardens and grounds, marquees, mansions and even abroad. Every venue has its own style and decor which will make Depending on the budget, many weddings are now being held abroad due to the cheaper cost over there and the guaranteed weather. With couples flying their close friends and family out to the chosen destination it can put an added cost on things. This option may not be possible for everyone, but there are fantastic venues close to home that will be just as good, if not better.
The meal on the big day should reflect the taste of the couple but should also take the guest into consideration too. There are many options out there for the catering side of your big day and usually choice menus are more expensive than set menus. The main factor of the catering is the cost which may dictate what you serve.
To remember you big day as if it was yesterday, photography plays a large part. Choosing a wedding photographer can be as tough as choosing the venue. Every wedding photographer has their own unique style and take on photography so you must pick one that reflects your own. There is a wide variety of photography techniques that can be used such as black and white, contemporary and classic.
To make a wedding a true event, accessories like flowers and centre pieces are used to make you big day stand out from the crowd. Flowers and centre pieces can make or break your wedding. They can make you day memorable and give guest a true impression of you as a person. Some people like simple arrangements while others like the big and bold. Everyone is different, so have fun and try to truly reflect your unique taste.
Choosing the entertainment for your big day can more than tricky. We all have dreams about what our wedding will be like and what kind of entertainment there will be. The right entertainment can make your wedding a big hit or a wash out. When choosing your entertainment whether it be a band, dj, or singer remember that the object of the entertainment is to entertain. You want people up dancing and having fun so make sure whatever you choose will allow people o do this, not matter of taste.
Overall, research is key to the success of your big day. The amount of research you do, has a direct impact on the wedding and how well you and your guests enjoy it. There is a world of possibilities out there for you to choose from and the most important thing is that it is your day to enjoy and remember.

Introduction to Podcasting
Posted by: | CommentsYou've heard about podcasting and may have wondered just what it is, how to enjoy it, or how to take advantage of it.
In its simplest definition, podcasting is the publishing of audio programming to be distributed by the Internet and listened to at the listener's discretion.
A slightly more comprehensive definition would be:
Podcasting is a method of publishing audio broadcasts via the Internet, that allows users to subscribe to a regularly updated feed of new files. Podcasting is unlike most other online media because of its subscription model. Podcasting usually uses a feed (such as RSS) to deliver an enclosed file, although not all podcasts require subscription.
Podcasting enables independent producers to make syndicated "radio shows," and gives broadcast radio programs a new distribution method but it also offers much more. While named for the iPod, any digital audio player or computer with audio playing software can play podcasts.
The same technique can deliver video files as well although this use is not yet popular (we'll see what happens when Apple introduces the video-capable iPod model!).
The Fastest-Growing Media Format in Eons
Podcasting is one of the hottest technology and marketing buzzwords today, and it has leapt from total obscurity to media headlines in the span of less than 18 months!
In its essence, podcasting is a method of disseminating information, usually but not always audio information like music and spoken word materials, through a method similar to RSS, or .really simple syndication, which regular readers of our reports already are familiar with.
Though discussed as far back as 1999 as a programming concept for Compaq's first hard-disk audio file player (Personal DJ and Personal Jukebox), Podcasting as it is now known was actually pioneered in June 2003 by an Internet publisher and radio programmer.
The programmer used RSS methods to grab a collection of audio files, aggregate them into a 'program' and make this available for download in an mp3 type of format. A global phenomenon was born.
By fall of 2003 the methodology spread to the world of blogging and universities, and shortly thereafter the word was coined and Internet radio, which had been around in various formats for a decade, was about to be completely transformed along with the music business due to the instant success and near-ubiquity of the Apple iPod.
By late 2004 Podcasting, a portmanteau combining iPod and broadcasting was all the rage, with everyone from media companies to small entrepreneurs to Apple itself trying to get on the bandwagon.

Joe – My Name Is Joe Pop Music CD
Posted by: | CommentsMy Name Is Joe is the latest release from Pop Star Joe, and is another great one by this talented musician.
It's a rare day indeed that I get a CD from an artist that I can truthfully say does not have a bad track in the bunch. I'm more than happy to announce that’s exactly what I must say about this one. There simply is NOT a bad one in the bunch. No fillers here at all, with each song standing tall on it's own.
The nice thing about a CD like this is with this level of talent even if Pop isn’t your favorite style you still can’t help but appreciate the greatness of the artist.
I give My Name Is Joe my highest recommendation. It just plain belongs in any serious music collectors collection regardless of genre preference.
While this entire album is outstanding some of my favorites are track 2 - Somebody Gotta Be On Top, track 4 - Table For Two, and track 10 - One Life Stand
My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 14 - Thank God I Found You. Wow!

HD Radio
Posted by: | CommentsFor individuals who love to listen to music in their car and want a high-quality sound, they may want to consider looking into HD radio. HD radio is an easy way to upgrade both FM and AM channels. Instead of receiving analog signals, individuals with HD receive digital signals. What this means, is a clearer, crisper sound that is closer in quality to a CD then to traditional, FM radio.
If you are an individual that listens to AM radio stations but are disappointed and annoyed with the typical, lower quality sound, this will enable your AM radio listening experience to be very similar to your FM listening experience. This is a huge upgrade in itself. You also no longer have to worry about the signal fading or the static that often breaks up your favorite shows that are played on AM radio.
You also get more information, and then you would by simply listening to traditional radio. You'll be able to receive the name of the artist and the titles of every song that is played. This enables you to go out and purchase the CD or download MP3s anytime that you hear a song that you like.
You also will have more options, because HD radio does come with multi-casting. This allows you to listen to a lot more stations and DJ's. Another very neat feature of HD radio is that it allows users to tag songs so that they can go on and buy them from Itunes at a later time.
HD radio was created IBiquity digital and it allows radio stations to buy a license to this technology. Another advantage of HD radio is that if an individual is no longer pleased with it or no longer finds it necessary, they can go back to listening to the analog signal. This is a bit different from HDTV, because in a few years, individuals will not have a choice, because the analog signal will be turned off permanently. This is not the case with HD radio.
HD radio allows for a very advanced, clear and informative listening experience. Users can listen to their favorite shows and even additional channels. They are also able to get artists and song titles of all songs that are played. This gives them the opportunity to identify an artist and then go out and purchase the album, if they feel so inclined. HD radio is also an excellent choice for individuals that listen to a lot of AM radio. It allows them to finally be able to listen to it clearly. HD radio involves using a digital signal instead of the old traditional analog. This allows for a listening experience that is much closer to what would expect when listening to a CD. The music will have much more clarity and will have a much higher quality. If you are interesting in purchasing HD radio, don't worry, it's free. You will however, have to pay for the HD tuner which isn't too much of a hassle or expense though.

Breedlove Guitars Review – AC25 SR Plus and AC25 CM Plus “Black Magic”
Posted by: | CommentsTwo of the most popular Breedlove Guitars from the Atlas Series are the AC25/SR Plus and the AC25/CM Plus, also known as "Black Magic". The two share many similar features. Both are concert bodies with soft cutaways. Both include a JLD Bridge Truss Systems, pinless bridges, Grover tuners, and Breedlove's Plus package, which includes abalone ellipse marker positions, abalone rosette and electronics that are upgraded to the Fishman Classic 4t.
Yet the two Breedloves are vastly different guitars. First, consider the top woods. The AC25/SR Plus has a solid sitka spruce top and thus a crisper, brighter, more powerful sound; whereas Black Magic has a cedar top, which produces a warmer sound. Next, the back and side woods. The AC25/SR Plus has rosewood back and sides, which complement the sitka top to produce a bright tone and powerful, punchy bass; Black Magic on the other hand has mahogany sides and back, resulting in a bright treble yet a deep, warm bass.
Of course, the two are vastly different in appearance, and those appearances reflect the guitars' different sounds. The AC25/SR Plus has a bright, shiny natural finish, along with bright gold Grover tuners - a bright, shiny guitar with a complementary sound. Black Magic has a glossy pitch black finish along with subtle grey Grover tuners yet has shiny abalone rosette and purfling - a smooth, mellow guitar with a bit of shine.
Both guitars are fabulous for fingerpickers and fingerstylists, containing many of the same features that Breedlove custom shop guitars possess yet at a great value. However, even though these aren't custom shop guitars, they are nevertheless high quality guitars made with excellent materials and workmanship. Indeed, both guitars come with the same hardshell cases used for Breedlove's custom shop instruments.
Michael Stone owns MacNichol Guitars and Mandolins. He has played the guitar for nearly twenty years and is also a folk music researcher.

Music Therapy and Dementia
Posted by: | CommentsDementia, characterized by severe impairment of the person's intellectual capacity, emotional disturbance and personality changes, is caused by a number of different reasons such as the loss of neurons in the brain due to head injury, metabolic disorders, or even due to a tumor in the brain.
The human brain has 2 hemispheres -- the left hemisphere and the right hemisphere. A large section of the person's brain is usually damaged in a patient suffering from dementia. While the language skills of a person are exclusively controlled by the left hemisphere of the brain, music is perceived by many different parts of the brain rather than just one particular part of the brain since the different elements of music such as rhythm, pitch, and melody are all processed differently by distinct parts of the human brain. Therefore, it is capable of reaching the remaining healthy sections of the patient's brain.
Music is received and processed by different brain stem cells and therefore, even severely demented people can respond to music. Music can be perceived and hence, used as a means of communication for people suffering from dementia, whose skills of comprehending or learning languages is severely impaired. When all other modes of communication fail to make any impact, music, with its non-verbal stimulant qualities, tends to penetrate the patient's mind and makes possible some amount of social, emotional or cognitive connection. Symptoms such as agitation and confusion among those people suffering from dementia can also be soothed out by the relaxing and soothing effects of music.
The degree of familiarity, the degree of liking of the patient for that particular music and the memories associated with the music or the significance that the music holds for the individual are certain factors which define the extent of positive impact or beneficial effects of the music therapy. While a familiar music can elicit positive responses such as tapping of fingers and feet to the tune, humming, rhythmic movement of body organs with the music, or a change of expression on the face, unfamiliar music fails to register itself in the brain in the first place. Therefore, we cannot find positive effects in the patient when unfamiliar music is played during the music therapy sessions. Similarly, familiar setting can help the patient relate more to the place, and makes him feel more reassured and comforted.
The music therapist must be very careful about the pitch and the volume of the music used for therapy because even these factors have a great impact on the patient. While a high pitch and high volume can cause anxiety and pressure to build up, a low pitch makes them feel more relaxed.

A Simple Guide to Replacing an In-Dash Satellite Radio in Your Car
Posted by: | CommentsSatellite radio is perhaps the biggest technology advancement of radio since FM stations decades ago. With satellite radio our listening options seem almost unlimited. Anything we want to listen to can be found with the push of a button. It really makes those long road trips seem just a little shorter and more reason why you need to get a satellite radio for your car.
It doesn’t take much time and effort to do either. It’s nearly as simple as installing any new car stereo. It’s when your car comes with a satellite radio already factory installed does putting a new, aftermarket one become a little more of a challenge. People often replace their OE stereos with satellite radios which come with DVD players as a typical feature. In order to perform this kind of job yourself, you’ll need to understand how to replace a regular, old car stereo with a new and exciting in-dash satellite radio. Here’s how.
- You’re going to need a complete in-dash car stereo system that is satellite ready to begin with. Stick to get one that is comparable to the existing in-dash satellite radio if you can’t find one of the same brands. Go over the instruction manual from cover to cover. Once you’re finished with that go through the box and make sure you have all the parts. If any parts need to be pre-assembled, now is the time to do it.
- Now you’ll need to disconnect and carefully uninstall the older in-dash satellite radio. Have all of the appropriate tools on hand before you start the removal and installation. To protect your car, new stereo equipment and more importantly yourself, disconnect the negative battery cable.
- You’re now ready to remove the original equipment, factory installed satellite radio from your car’s dashboard. Make sure you have the correct tools to remove the old receiver without damaging anything since some of them are very specialized for this task. You’re going to need certain task specific tools as well when install the new stereo system but they usually come prepackaged in the box with the new receiver.
- Gently, slide out the old receiver after you've detached it from the car. Next, unplug the factory wiring from the receiver. You’re going to reuse those same factory wires when you are installing the new in-dash satellite radio so don’t go cutting any of the wires to make the removal of the old stereo easier. You’ll just give yourself a headache and expensive one to fix at that.
- Make your life easier and buying a wiring harness. It’ll speed up connecting the new stereo and save you some aggravation. Connect it to the new receiver's wiring and plug into the car’s existing wiring. It makes the process much less complicated.
- If the new stereo came with a mounting sleeve, now is the time to remove it and then set it inside the dashboard opening. Secure it in there by bending the perforated tabs.
- If the opening in your dash from the older stereo is larger than your new receiver, use a custom installation kit. Once the new wiring harness is plugged in, tuck all those wires back into the car. Slide everything into place and start rocking out to your new stations.

Grammy Awards
Posted by: | CommentsGrammy Awards are the Oscars of the music industry. The music industry launched its own awards thirty years after the Academy Awards were established. The Grammys, the Gramophone Awards--as originally named, were created in 1957 by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
The Grammys were conservative. At that time, rock and roll was not included in the nominations, since it was considered a fad. Although the committee consisted of representatives from pop, jazz, classical, R&B, country etc, most innovators never won any awards for years to come.
The first Grammy Awards were presented for the year 1958, on May 4, 1959. Although Elvis Presley’s records were half of the music sold that year, The King wasn’t even nominated.
It is said that Frank Sinatra, the chairman of the board, had a hand in this, since he did not appreciate Rock’n Roll, and in the second year, when Bobby Darin was granted the Record of The Year Award for 1959 for “Mack the Knife,” Sinatra despised the new music even more. During the later years, however, Sinatra recorded the same song.
The end of the sixties still stayed conservative, although with Woodstock and with the push for following along with the times, the middle-of-the-road choices started to take hold. In 1969, the group 5th Dimension proved to be a godsend with their soft jazzy rock music, winning two awards for the same song, “Aquarius--Let the Sunshine in.”
The traditionalist view lost its hold during the seventies when the Grammys relaxed the strict judging criteria and included the rock music artists like the Eagles and Stevie Wonder.
A slap in the face came to Grammys with their biggest scandal when the Best New Artist Award was given to Milli Vanilli. Milli Vanilli were a twosome who had three singles at the number one spot. It was later discovered that the two never sang any of their songs, but lip-synched. Their German producer said afterwards, “We made a pact with the devil.”
The Grammys were broadcast on television for the first time by ABC until CBS bought the rights of telecast in 1973. The Grammys were held in Los Angeles at the Shrine Auditorium for several years and then moved to the Staples Center because of the increase in the size of the audience and the categories. For years, New York and Los Angeles have competed for hosting the Grammys.
The Grammys now boast 108 categories with more than 20 genres of music and chapters in Atlanta, Chicago, Florida, Los Angeles, Memphis, Nashville, New York, Pacific Northwest, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Texas, and Washington, D.C.
The 49th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony took place on February 11, 2007 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California with Dixie ****** becoming the big winners. In 2008, Grammy Awards will celebrate its fiftieth year, a milestone in the music awards business and will be held on a date to be yet announced at Staples Center, Los Angeles, California.

The Importance of a DJ For Your Corporate Event
Posted by: | CommentsIf you are deciding to have a corporate function, which could include anything from a corporate Christmas party, to a annual fundraiser, the need to provide entertainment to your guests, co-workers and colleagues is a must. If the event is formal or informal, the one thing that you can do without is a music DJ.
A music DJ will not only add vibrancy to the event, they will be able to be the emcee for the evening or afternoon event, depending on when you will have it. A corporate event can also be the launching of a new service or product within the company, with shareholders and employees all taking part. There could be family members on hand, as the company has decided to allow for family and friends to participate, so the complexity of a corporate event, in Toronto, southern Ontario or within the GTA, it is important to cater to the needs and wants of a party.
If you are in need to have a centralized figure to organize and control the schedule of the event, then a music DJ should be able to take care of that. At Surround Sound DJ, we understand that there are many differences that come from DJing a wedding from DJing a corporate event. A wedding, for example, is filled with love, and the ability to offer or play a different type of music stems from the understanding that the setting is much different.
A corporate event for example, is first all about a gathering of a company to celebrate an event or a theme, be it Christmas, as stated above, whereas it is generally understood that a wedding, for example, is about celebrating the joy and pleasure with family and friends to bliss of marriage.
So, with that in mind, Surround Sound DJ caters its service to offering a difference between a wedding in Toronto and a corporate event. So next time to decide to plan a corporate event, choose Surround Sound DJ services to help make the social gathering a more memorable one.
