Marquee Hire – What Are the Benefits of Marquee Hire?

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
dj

Many people in the United Kingdom choose marquee hire for their event venue need. Mainly because of its versatility, but also because hiring a marquee for events such as weddings and private parties helps create a relaxed, open and ultimately professional atmosphere at an event.

Think of all the outdoor events that you have been to, where there were marquees, whether they were wedding tents, party tents or even a corporate marquee tent at a sporting or business fair and compare them to events that were indoors in a boring function room or private suite at a hotel.

Which events did you prefer on the grounds of presentation of the venue, I think you'll agreed that choosing tent rental over an ordinary function room is a lot more fun and also more visually impressive. After all, creating the right impression is vital when planning any kind of event, whether you are organising an 18th birthday party, wedding or reception party, corporate event or even a business awards buffet evening.

This is particularly important when trying to impress new potential clients at the launch of a new product or service at an exhibition, where leaving a lasting impression on someone is essential to achieve increased or new orders. Organising marquee hire for your event will impress guests, both current customers and potential new clients.

So you see, marquee hire is therefore the clear favourite when creating the right impression and also atmosphere at your event. Clients & guests however, will not be impressed by the marquee alone. You will have to think very carefully about a theme for your event, this will ultimately have an impact on the décor, interior furnishings, lighting and the choice of audio / visual displays that you decide upon.

With so many interior theme options for marquee hire to choose from nowadays, you should find one that suits you and your business. The decoration of the inside of your party tent or wedding tent can be organised in-house or you may choose one of the many companies who solely cater for this market.

Some marquee hire companies even offer interior design & decoration services as part of the party, wedding or corporate event planning service. In this way these companies are able to offer you the whole package as some even offer party, wedding and corporate event catering services too.

In fact most event related services are often covered by marquee hire companies, or if they do not offer the service themselves, they can sub-contract or suggest other companies who will be happy to provide these services independently from the marquee hire service.

These other services include such things as:
  • Party, Wedding or Corporate Event Catering
  • Licensed Bar or Waiter Services
  • Limousine or Transport Services
  • Portable Toilets & Washrooms
  • Fancy Dress or Formal Wear Hire
  • Generators & Air Conditioning Units
  • Audio / Visual Display Equipment
  • Photographic or Video Recording Services
  • Event Audio, Party DJ or Live Bands Hire

 Marquee Hire Event Planning Companies

Many marquee hire companies offer event planning & management services as well as tent hire. This way they can offer you the whole event package, with tent rental, event planning & management.

By using these companies expertise and with the right budget, a marquee based event can easily be transformed into a highly successful corporate event or professional looking venue for a private party. In fact with the quality of the equipment and entertainment that is available you could host a private party that could easily rival some nightclubs in the UK.

The option to offload your event, planning and organisation worries to a professional wedding marquee planner or party tent planning company, is a great help when you have a multitude of other things to organise for your event. This gives you more time to focus on things like, sending out invites, organising accommodation, parking and working out what you are wearing at your event. Ultimately giving you more opportunity to relax, enjoy your event and have time to mingle with guests instead of worrying whether everything is done on time.

Find marquees in London. High quality marquee hire for London based corporate events, weddings and parties.

The overall success of your wedding can be determined by the quality of the disc jockey you choose to entertain your guests. Therefore with that in mind, here are some things to ask yourself when selecting the chief of your reception's entertainment:

1. How experienced is the DJ? As with many things, experience can be of vital importance. You need to ask yourself if they are capable of reacting to events as they come up that may not necessarily have been foreseen. They should also be capable of measuring the overall mood of the event, and deciding what music would best fit it. They should consider playing, for example, cocktail music while the meals are being eaten, while also observing when this portion of the reception has ended, replacing it with dance music. Of course, the DJ should also have a professional air about them, and should work well with the rest of your staff.

2. What kinds of events is your DJ most used to? Most disc jockeys are not exclusive wedding contractors, and will attempt to capitalize on the open market, usually taking advantage of weddings as they present themselves. If they are exclusively club or prom workers, they are probably used to a different style of entertainment and audience entirely. Therefore, they should either be familiar with the wedding etiquette at the very least, or should have experience with weddings.

3. Will the DJ be able to provide you with nearby references? You should ask your DJ for references, especially since the backbone their industry involves vocal advertising. You should ask for emails or phone numbers of past customers so that you can ask them just how their experiences went with the DJ in question.

4. Is the DJ's price reasonable? You don't need to settle for the first DJ that comes your way, neither do you need to settle for the cheapest. Shop around, get an idea for all potential solicitors, and pick the one that works best for you. A "bargain" DJ may seem like the best route, but some of them can prove to be vulgar and intrusive, while others can actually give you far more than you expected for how little you paid. Likewise, some vastly overcharge for their services. Scout around, don't be shy, and devote the time necessary to get the best quality for the buck.

5. What kind of equipment is the DJ going to bring with him? Be sure that the disc jockey of choice has taken pride in his equipment, and isn't bringing you hand-me down home made junk. You want someone who takes their job seriously, not someone who feels that they can pass their home-built junk off as worth the money you will be paying for their services. Expect, and demand, the best, you should not have to suffer the humiliation of blown out or breaking speakers and microphones.

6. What is the range of the DJ's music? You want a DJ that can handle any variety of wants or needs at your reception, so you definitely want to look into his library. If he's only going to play oldies and country, that does very little for those who enjoy rock or pop. Likewise, they should also be willing to go out of their way to acquire songs that you personally request to add to their library. Don't be afraid to ask for samples either.

The Benefit of Teaching Others to Play Drums

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
dj

If you have been playing drums for any length of time at
all, then you can teach someone else what you know.
You might say, "Yeah, but I don't know enough, or play well
enough to teach." You know more than someone who's never
picked up a pair of drumsticks!

You never want to pass up an opportunity to teach someone
else how to play drums, or even show them a cool groove or
fill. Not only will you be robbing them, but you will also
be robbing yourself.

"How so?" you may ask.

When you begin teaching someone some of your drumming
knowledge and skills, even if you think it's not much, you
will be amazed at the additional things you will learn. You
will also begin to realize you knew more than you thought
you knew about the drums, which will improve your
confidence. And, developing confidence is vital to being a
great drummer!

Many new drummers lack confidence. I think one of the main
reasons is because they tend to compare themselves with
other drummers who have been playing longer, are famous, or
who have a bigger drum set. Whatever the reason, don't do
that! You're not being fair to yourself.

Have you ever heard the phrase, "Beauty is in the eye of the
beholder?" What that means is, what may be impressive to you
may not be impressive at all to someone else. For example,
you may think highly of a particular musician or singer, but
someone else is not going to agree with you. They have their
own favorites.

What I'm saying is this, you are a better drummer than you
think you are. "Better than who?" you may ask. Again, better
than someone who's never picked up a pair of drumsticks! See
yourself from someone else's perspective. You play... they
don't. And, if you have any drumming skills at all, they may
think you're awesome.

Again, teaching what you know will help you to learn even
more and will improve your confidence. Besides, teaching
someone else how to play an instrument can be a real
eye-opening experience for you. Students often bring a whole
different perspective to the table and they'll challenge
your thinking for sure.

So, find someone who wants to learn to play the drums and
then teach them. Finding them is easy. All you have to do is
ask. Opportunity abounds for wanna-be drummers!

Promoting yourself, or someone you know who is trying to break into disc jockeying, is an important step in getting your name out there and having patrons and club owners recognize your face.

Promotions can take the shape of a number of different options in terms of getting your name out to the public. Flyers and mix tapes are simple yet effective ways of letting the public in your city know of your presence.

Flyers can range from the extravagant to the simple depending on your personal style and budget. The only thing you need to remember is to be sure to put your name on the flyer along with upcoming show dates where you will be playing. Take the flyers and place them around the city to give yourself the best opportunity to reach the largest amount of potential audience members.

Mix tapes are a great way to get your distinct sound out into the public. All you need is the ability to record your sessions from your equipment to a computer that has the ability to burn them onto a CD. As long as you have the ability to do this, all you need then is to purchase a few hundred blank CD's, then put your music on the CD and distribute them after your show or a similar show in the city.

Depending on the city you are in, different styles of music may be more popular than others. If you are a DJ trying to make a name for yourself, make sure that you take note of these popular styles and try to incorporate them into your shows. The more popular music you play, the larger the audience you will attract.

Another thing to remember when you are trying to promote yourself is to remember to dress for the style. What this means is that a DJ is not only about the music anymore, but it is about the total package he must present to his audience. Depending on the type of music you perform, you should model your clothing attire around that style to create a total package to sell to the audience. Wear clothes that the club goers will most likely be wearing. Not only does this draw attention to you as an artist, but it also helps you become accepted by the crowd to which you are playing.

The final piece of advice about promoting yourself and your skills is to create a memorable show for your audience. If you do this, your audience will do a vast majority of your promoting for you through word of mouth to their friends and co-workers. Creating a memorable show is all about incorporating different external sources and making them work seamlessly together. This includes the music, lights and ambiance of the club or bar.

By bringing all of these aspects together, you will be well on your way to creating a name for yourself in the local club circuit and have a better understanding of how to promote a DJ that you can use to help out a newcomer some day down the road.

Everyone wants to learn the "secret shortcuts" that will make improvising/composing music easier. And why not? Do you think professional composers don't use them? They do.

What I'm about to show you will have you blocking out sections of music in no time.

If you've been reading my articles about composition, you no doubt have heard me say that a composition is the art of repetition and contrast. And it's true! But before we get to the contrast part, we have to start somewhere. And that's where "sections" come in.

For example, in Lesson 4: "Morning Mist," we use a crossover pattern in the left hand while the right hand improvises a melody. In fact, this is a perfect combination of improvisation and composition because what we have here is a 12 bar phrase repeated twice.

Now, in the lesson itself, I don't tell you it's a 12 bar phrase because I just wanted you to learn how to improvise. But, the fact is that's what this lesson is compositionally.

Here's what it looks like when charted out - chart for Morning Mist (pdf file)

Notice that only 3 chords are used here. But 3 chords are all we need to create this section of music. Essentially, this is a harmonic loop. We use the chords to create a background upon which we improvise our melodies.

Now, after improvising our melody, we may like what we hear and want to memorialize it thus turning this into a full-fledged composition.

The easiest way to create these harmonic loops is to simply pick a key, then a few chords from the key and start improvising with them. Then, when you feel like you're on to something you like, simply chart out when the chords change and that's that. You've created a harmonic loop

A Hip-Hoppin’ Home Dance Party

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
dj

Why go to the club or bar-hosted party when you can have one much better yourself? There are many great reasons why you can have your dance party at home instead of going to bar hosted events. Some reasons are:

1. You and your guests save money.

2. There will only be people you invited.

3. It is safer.

4. You and many guests will feel more comfortable.

Many students are deciding to drop the lame bar-hosted events and have their own dance parties at home. When you do this, you have control over what happens at your party and not some strangers or some business. You can make the party when and how you want and invite who you want. You can choose the food, the music and even the lighting and decorations. What are some ways you can spruce up your dance party and make it a memorable one?

Budget is going to play a role in what you are able to do but some must-haves are always music and lighting. In addition, you will want drinks of some sort and probably some type of food. You might offer snacks such as chips and party mix in bowls or you may hire a full-out catering service to host the party. If you have a bigger budget to spare, you can get professional lighting or even throw your own foam party.

For music you may hire your own DJ, have a friend DJ, set up a karaoke machine or play CDs. There is also software and music CDs available that allow your own dance party music or even let you have your own DJ so everything is fully customizable. Think of all the fun you will have with your own beats and your own friends in the safety and comfort of your own home as well.
