dj

The Randy Jackson's America's Best Dance Crew, the hottest dancing competition in US, has declared its winner. Among the 12 competing crews, the JabbaWockeez crew emerged as the victorious group as they crushed Status Quo with their remarkable performance on the finale. The JabbaWockeeZ's members were Jeff Nguyen aka "Phi", 26, from Phoenix AZ; Ryan Shawn Paguio, 26, from San Diego, CA; Ben Chung aka B-Tek, 26, from Mission Hills, CA; Kevin Brewer, 31, from Sacrament, CA; Phil Tayag, 23, also from Sacramento, CA; and Chris Gatdula, 26, from Las Vegas, NV.

The two groups fought their last battle onstage, but still, the JabbaWockeeZ seemed to steal the heart of Americans when millions of their votes declared the group as the ultimate champion. Status Quo's members who are Joshua Green, 20; Ernest Phillips, 21, Jayjion Greer aka "Jin Lao", 18; Jamal Weaver, 20; and Dwayne Hines, 18 (all from Boston, MA) did not lose in vain. They had served one of the best performances in the history of dance competitions in the US.

During episode 7, the three remaining crews which are the JabbaWockeez, Status Quo, and the Kaba Modern had competed and gave their best moves. Status Quo performed the first act. The judges were impressed by the group's amazing stunts, but failed to make an impression with their lackluster choreography.

Episode 6 showed one of the most exhilarating performances on the show. The four remaining crews fought their way up from the dance floor and were required to perform hip hop dances with a mixture of Traditional Broadway acts. The most remarkable performance was done by Status Quo as they showed off their own version of "Hairspray."

The competing crews performed Michael Jackson's "Thriller" in Episode 5. This was done in honor of the artist that has become legendary with his dancing prowess and also to celebrate his album's twenty-fifth anniversary. "Thriller" sold over 45 million worldwide, and it is considered as one of the biggest selling albums of all time.

During Episode 4, the crews were made to dance while portraying their own characters based on movies. The audience and the judges were awed by the amazing performances they had witnessed.

During Episode 3, the crews were made to perform popular dances that possessed remarkable stunts.

The eight remaining crews, during Episode 2, were made to perform an act that is based on popular music video. They must have a unique interpretation that still jives with the video. The competition started with 12 groups (consisting of six members) showing off their hottest moves, they were: Full Out, The Movements, Automatic Response, Enigma Dance Crew, Femme 5, Iconic, Live in Color, Fysh n Chicks, BreakSk8, Kaba Modern, Status Quo, and the JabbaWockeeZ.

The show creator, Randy Jackson, has been in the music industry for more than twenty years. This music veteran and Grammy Award winning producer has started his career as a bass guitar player when he was just 13 years old. He got his big break when he joined the famous band Journey.

The first judge was JC Chavez who started his career as a member of a Mickey Mouse Club. He is also a former of a now disbanded NSync. Shayne Sparks, who is also a judge, is a professional dancer who was known for his jaw-dropping performance every time he was onstage. Lil' Mama, another judge of this popular dance competition show, is an hip hop artist who got her big break when her Lip Gloss hit the radio waves in 2007.

The show was hosted by Mario Lopez, Layla Kaleigh, and DJ Rashida. MTV is giving opportunity to people to show off their grooviest moves and style. Very Useful Tips About High Tech Music Gear

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
dj

When it comes to producing musical presentation, may be for video or films, there are lots of components that help it. These components that are used for recording and producing music are called musical gear. This includes equipment related to sound, recording, studio, DJ and also audio effects.

Music gear vary in their qualities which basically depend on factors like the place from where they were bought, the price, whether new or used ones, etc. But high tech music gear are more in demand as they are considered to be the professional gear that possess highly technical, qualitative and modern features.

Switching over to the types and features of the high tech music gear, it should be mentioned at first that these equipment would cost more than the normal ones. They are widely used by the recording studios. But sometimes, they are even used for recording in home studio especially by the professional musicians who create their own studio to save money.

Let us now look at different kinds of high tech music gear. The first ones are the different kinds of sound equipment. And the high tech components in this category are the hi-fidelity speakers and the wireless microphones. Wireless microphones are the latest versions of microphones and they provide best quality sound reproduction. In fact, they are used for sound recording and broadcasting in the television shows, radio broadcasting and stage shows too. These microphones are portable, and can be connected to camera, recorder, or speaker without the cable.

Next come high fidelity speakers. Though the technology is quite old, the latest changes have made them unique among speakers. They have the capability to produce high quality, distortion free, crystal clear sound with wide and accurate frequency level.

Among high tech music gear, next come the recording equipment. The high tech components falling into this category are the digital multi track machines and the sequencer or the modern recording software. Both the devices are used for recording but they have a difference. The sequencer can record both digital audio and MIDI data to blend them in a software-mixing console and also can edit every aspect of the production. On the other hand, though the multi track machines perform the same task and even record audio directly to separate tracks, they cannot edit them.

Then there is MIDI which means musical instrument digital interface. It is a kind of a computer data that the keyboard and the computers send back and forth. This system records the notes as data into the computer that are played in the keyboard and vice versa. This has become a very useful instrument in a software studio.

The next high tech gear is the mixer, which usually comes under the category of DJ equipment. Mixers are those devices that blend the different tracks to produce music with effects. Remixes are one of the examples. Basically the process includes leveling, equalizing, and effecting all the various sources from many tracks down to stereo mix.

With so many photographers available, how do you know who to choose for your wedding day? Although you may be tempted to hire the person with the least expensive rates, there are many other factors to consider and price should not be the most important.

The first thing to do is to make sure you've taken a good look at their website and/or portfolio. If their wedding images suit the style you're looking for, that's a good start.

That old adage 'you get what you pay for' tends to be true in most cases. Which is why deciding to hire the least expensive photographer is not often the best choice. Someone who charges much less than standard professional photography rates is not a professional.

How can you tell what the difference is between amateur and professional photography rates? It's fairly simple...

Anything less than a thousand dollars for four hours (or more), is too good to be true. Those 'cheap rates' are almost certainly someone just starting out in the business.

Which is not necessarily a bad thing, but you run the risk of hiring an amateur or hobbyist photographer who may not have proper skills, experience or equipment. Someone who is new to shooting weddings may not know how to dress or act professionally at your event or how to be inconspicuous while still taking the very best shots of you and your day.

In Vancouver, standard rates for professional wedding photographers - with good reputations, good portfolios, good equipment and a wealth of experience - start at $1000 dollars for four hours and can range as high as $5000 or $6000 for an eight to ten hour wedding.

The highest range is for the well established photographers with many years of experience and a strong body of published work.

If you're hiring someone for two or three hours, expect to pay at the lower end of the scale. If you're looking for someone to shoot your entire day - from the wedding party getting ready at the beginning of the day all the way through to the reception at the end - expect to pay at least $1600.

Why? Well, professional photographers charge professional rates for a reason. They have high-quality equipment, they have years of experience and they give the very best results.

Bear in mind that a photographer's work is not done once they've taken several hundred photos of your wedding. All of those photos have to be edited and worked on. In this age of digital photography, most times that means a photographer will spend another several days working on your pictures in a computer image editing program such as Photoshop.

When you're hiring someone to take photos of your wedding, you're also paying for the many hours of work they will do afterwards to make your pictures just perfect for you.

Ten years from now, you may not remember exactly how your cake tasted, or what songs your dj or band played. Your wedding photos (and video if you have one) will be the one tangible connection to your memories of that day.

Your wedding day is one of the most special moments in your life. It deserves the best documentation. And that's worth paying for.

Which DJ Equipment Should You Choose?

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
dj

Being a dynamite DJ requires more than just having an ear for what is a cool sound or not or knowing the latest in the music scene. It also requires a deep understanding of all the equipment that that will produce the beat or "thumpa thumpa" that will bring the crowd in a state of ecstasy. A skillful usage of equipments produces a great mix that will bring out the "party animal" in every person and will certainly rock the house down. Some of the must have tools and equipments are as follow:

• Headset - The first equipment to invest on is a great set of headset. Choose one that has a closed ear design that will keep your focus on track cues and clears you from being distracted with surrounding noise.

• Turntable - Another must have equipment for DJs. It is the best equipment to practice on if you are a just starting to learn the art of DJing. One preferred brand is the Technics 1200/1210.

• DJ Needles and Cartridges - Used for playing vinyl and scratching

• DJ Mixer - Allows smooth transition from different sources, sound equalization and creation of sound effects.

• Computer - Either a laptop or desktop with the specifications that suit most DJ softwares.

• DJ CD/MP3 Player - Chose one with direct folder search feature that allows easy access and toggling of music files and one that can be placed to CDJ and Vinyl mode.

• Speaker and Amplifier Set - Choose a decent set that will produce great sound output. A basic set would include speakers, a sound monitor and an amplifier. Having a wireless microphone is a big plus.

• Ear filter - Loudness in concerts or music jams can reach up to 125 decibels or even more which can be very damaging to the ears. With ear filters, noise is being reduced down to the right amount; just enough for the DJ to hear what he is playing.

• DJ Effects Console - Used to create sound effects, i.e. retro sounds, intros, out-tros, whistles, bells, guns and other effects not available or built-in in the mixer. Other effects console also includes control over lights.

Unsigned Artists – Success with No Record Label

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
dj

Unsigned artists have a greater chance of success today than ever before. On one hand, composing and performing songs without the shadow of a struggling record label hanging overhead leaves musicians free to express themselves instinctively from the soul. On the other, it requires a lot of work behind the scenes, but can offer can offer greater rewards in return.

Brooklyn-based band Clap Your Hands Say Yeah broke through in 2005 as a result of the commotion started online among a community of blogs and music sites, such as Pitchfork Media. As a result, their self-financed, self-released and self-titled debut album has sold more than 200,000 copies. Band bassist Tyler Sargent explained to Paste magazine (12/6/06) why the band has remained unsigned, despite their success: "Because there are so many new avenues opening up these days...if you have good songs and the right relationships you can just totally bypass this whole label system. Which is just great for independent music...and this way, we get 80 percent, or at least a larger chunk of (our earnings). And it just makes more sense."

The truth is, the major label end of the music industry is in "turmoil," as noted by CBS Evening News (5/28/07), as "CD sales plummeted 20 percent the first three months of this year." In the same piece, Wilco's lead singer Jeff Tweedy stated that "Technology has evened the playing field. If the artist can gain more power over the situation--over the economics of the situation--why wouldn't they take it?"

While the Internet has become the most vital and effective marketing tool, taking music to the streets has become the bread an butter for many acts. On a smaller scale, Heath & Jed have made a living off of the CD sales and tips they've received playing the streets and subways of New York City. In their Gothamist tour diary (8/14/06), they revealed: "We’ve sold over 10,000 CD’s this year. One fan at a time...We came and we conquered and we made some money to live another day as musicians, doing what we love."

Sony's Connect music site did a feature on unsigned Fullerton, CA band Cold War Kids who "have risen to the top of the hipster rock heap through their relentless touring." In the related interview, lead singer Nathan Willett talked about the process of peddling their homemade EPs during their non-stop tours: "Basically (the EPs) were available at our shows at best, and we ran out of them a lot, and it was kind of a bummer because we couldn't put the effort into being at home and getting more made. But it was cool because we had a limited amount of them and people seemed to want them, and we were surprised that people wanted them as much as they did."

There are no rules to follow when it comes to unsigned bands promoting their music. From utilizing their fan base to promote local live shows, new releases and merchandise, to reaching new fans outside via online communities like Facebook and social music sites such as Echoboost, the extra effort will only aid them along the way. As long as they have quality songs, the talent to perform them live and a dedicated work ethic to spread the music, nothing can stand in their way.

Its most likely your love of guitar music that has led you to want to take guitar lessons. This is a good thing, because in the end it will allow you to not only to enjoy the music but express yourself as well. First of all take your time. Presumably you already have your guitar, so you know which you are going to learn on, acoustic or electric. You need to pick your type of instruction based on which instrument you are using. That doesn't mean to say that you can only learn to play one or the other because you most certainly will be able to play either after your guitar lessons.

You now need to decide whether you are going to take a home course or go to a music academy and opt for private or group guitar lessons. There are some things you need to consider before making that choice. In order to do that you need to have some general knowledge to base you decisions on. Here are some things you are going to want to know.

Lets assume you are going to take a look at what the music academies have to offer.

1. Do you have to purchase your guitar through them, or can you bring your own guitar?
Some academies are actually off springs of music stores. They will offer lessons but only if its with their equipment that you have purchased from them.

2. Do they have group lessons, and if so how many to a group?
If you are comfortable in a group setting. This may be a good option for you. Usually group guitar lessons are less expensive than private ones.

3. How many hours of lessons a week does the course offer? If you are only going to get a 1./2 hour per week, and its in a group setting then you are not likely to get much time, if any with the instructor. You may be further ahead to take a home study course. If you find out that they have a few options regarding time, there may be something there that will work for you. For example if they offer 2 hours per week. One option may be to do 1hour on Tuesday and perhaps another hour on Thursday. Then the second option may be a full 2 hours on Wednesday. This is a fairly flexible schedule for you to choose from.

4. How long is the course. If you are only get 10 hours total of instruction for the course is this going to be enough for you? Also do they offer different levels? For example do they beginners, intermediate and advanced levels?

5. What do they have to offer by way of private lessons?
You may be more comfortable with this option and feel that you will get more from it.

6. Finally what is the cost of the course? Are there payment plans? And what is the background of the instructors?

No doubt you will think of a few other questions that pertain to your personal needs. Don't be afraid to ask them before you sign any agreement.

The exceptionally talented Jazz artist Scott Hamilton has released him CD entitled Ballad Essentials. I am very confident and happy to announce that I believe Scott Hamilton fans, and Jazz fans alike will be pleased with this one. With the release of Ballad Essentials Scott Hamilton’s artistic excellence is on full display as Hamilton has once again delivered a brilliant collection of tracks that could very well be him best work to date.

This CD grabs your attention right from the start with Skylark and won’t let go until the very last note of the very last song Tonight I Shall Sleep With A Smile On My Face, which is another great track by the way.

Scott Hamilton possesses the characteristic of being able to win you over with him talent alone. The kind of artist I frankly just flat out enjoy listening to.

I’m of the opinion that Ballad Essentials is certainly Scott Hamilton’s best work in a few years. A totally enjoyable CD and an outstanding release. What I call must have music. I give it two thumbs up because it’s a collection that even the casual Jazz fan can appreciate and enjoy.

While the entire CD is really very good the truly standout tunes are track 2 - Everything Happens To Me, track 5 - In A Sentimental Mood, and track 12 - Tonight I Shall Sleep With A Smile On My Face.

Hip Hop Music

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
dj

Hip-hop music is the vehicle of hip-hop culture and contains "rapping" (superimposed with vocals) by emcees. Owing to this, hip-hop music is sometimes referred to as "rap music," However, those who dismiss hip-hop as rap music do not comprehend its rich history and the influence this genre of music has on youth culture.

Hip-hop music is a vehicle used by the singers to address racism, oppression, and poverty issues. It narrates tales of inner city African-Americans living the American dream (through hard work, courage and determination one can achieve prosperity) from the bottom up, and bitterly touches upon racial discrimination, broken homes, and overcoming adversity.

Invented by Jamaican migrant DJ Kool Herc in the early 70s in New York City, it has since then spread its tentacles across the world. Herc shifted from reggae records to funk, rock and disco. Owing to the short percussive breaks, he began extending them using an audio mixer and two records. As the unique style of music became a hit, performers (emcees) began superimposing the music with vocals; initially, they introduced themselves and others in the audience. Later, the rapping became more diverse, incorporating brief rhymes, often with a sexual or violent theme, in an attempt to entertain the audience.

In the mid-1970s, hip-hop split into two groups. One focused on getting the crowd dancing, another highlighted rapid-fire rhymes. The 1980s witnessed further diversification in hip-hop; highly metaphoric lyrics rapping over multi-layered beats replaced simple vocals. In the 90s, gangsta rap (glorified outlaw lifestyle) became mainstream. Hip-hop was soon an integral part of mainstream music, and nearly all the pop songs featured an underlying element of hip-hop.

In the 90s and into the following decade, elements of hip-hop were integrated into diverse genres of music: hip-hop soul combined hip-hop and soul music; in the Dominican Republic, a recording by Santi Y Sus Duendes and Lisa M was coined "Meren-rap," a fusion of hip-hop and meringue. In Europe, Africa, and Asia, hip-hop has undergone a transition from an underground occurrence to the mainstream market.

Eating Your Vegetables May Help COPD

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
dj

Everyone knows that eating a balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables is important to developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. But a study published by Johns Hopkins Medical School also shows that eating certain vegetables, broccoli in particular, is now linked to lung health in patients suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). How are the two connected?

The lungs contain several antioxidants to help defend against inflammation. Researchers studied the levels of NRF2-dependant antioxidants, as well as their regulators KEAP1 and DJ-1. The KEAP1 inhibits the NRF2 from working, while the DJ-1 regulates it. In the case of a patient with COPD, their NRF2 levels are significantly lower than that of a person with healthy lungs. The severity of COPD can be measured by how low their NRF2 levels are, which usually mean the KEAP1 levels are higher and DJ-1 levels are much lower than average.

The study found that naturally occurring substances found in broccoli can help keep NRF2 levels from disappearing or even increase them, which in turns helps prevent their COPD from becoming too severe. By increasing these levels in the lungs, some researchers believe that this also can restore detoxifying enzymes to the lungs, which help counteract the harmful effects of cigarette smoke. COPD is a disease that results from years of cigarette smoking.

If you are suffering from COPD and don't have a healthy diet, now is a great time to start. Be sure to work closely with your doctor because of your limitations. There's never a bad time to lose weight, and quick weight loss, when done safely, is a great way to keep you motivated. Just remember to eat a sensible diet with plenty of broccoli, and if hunger is a problem for you consider using a natural appetite supplement like hoodia to help curb cravings. The goal is not starvation, but to help improve your condition you will need to make some changes to see results.

Susan Patterson has been studying alternative medicine and health for over 10 years. She loves to write to help others, especially in the area of quick weight loss, which can be accomplished safely. She has found several herbal remedies to be effective in her journey to better health without the side effects that medications cause. She is particularly passionate about hoodia for weight loss.
