Guitars, Bridges and the Whammy Bar

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
dj

The bridge is a part found on an acoustic guitar, the purpose of which is to act as a way of transferring the vibrations from the strings as they are plucked or strummed, to the soundboard itself. The soundboard then vibrates the air that is inside the hollow body of an acoustic guitar, and this vibration of the air causes a natural amplification of the sound caused by the plucking of the strings. Just as singing in a bathroom causes a louder and more resonant sound than when you sing in your garden, using this smaller, natural pocket of air behind the soundboard causes the increase in both volume and tone of the sounds and notes played.

Of course, the bridge is to be found on electric guitars as well as acoustic and classical ones, although for electric guitars the amplification is not achieved through the use of the pocket of air, as the body of an electric guitar is solid, with no resonating chamber. But the bridge is still used to hold the strings in place on the actual body of the guitar. The bridge of a guitar is therefore an essential component, and as with all components of a guitar, has not only undergone many variations in design over the long history of the instrument, but remains a component with many variations today. For example, in some guitars there is a mechanism included which allows the physical raising or lowering of the entire bridge.

This raising and lowering of the bridge results in an increase in distance between the strings of the guitar and the fret board underneath. The increased distance means that different playing styles can be adopted, with the ability to strike the strings made easier by a greater distance between strings and board, whilst a closer distance means that the strings are closer to the sound board, and a more heavy and amplified sound is produced. The raising and lowering of the bridge can also be used as a way of fine tuning the sound or intonation of the instrument as well. There are some bridges produced which are spring loaded, and include a device known as a whammy bar. This whammy bar is an arm, usually removable, that allows the player to alter the pitch, or modulate it, by moving the entire bridge up and down during the playing of a note of chord.

The whammy bar is also referred to sometimes as a tremolo bar, and the very rapid changing in pitch of the notes or chord is usually referred to as the vibrato method in terms of music. Today, most electric guitars come with a bridge that can be fine tuned for each individual string, in order to make sure that each string remains in tune both up and down the neck of the guitar. If an individual string plays either sharp or flat when struck, then, in some cases using a screwdriver, the bridge can be adjusted for that one string alone, to bring it back into correct tune.

Because each individual string on a guitar is stretched a great deal, and is constantly being pressed, and thereby slightly stretched or distorted during playing, over time strings can become slightly longer. Although not clearly noticeable, this can result in a string sounding slightly sharp, and so by adjusting the height of the bridge for that string, it can be flattened enough to retune it. It is for this reason that the length of strings on a guitar are clearly longer than the length of the guitar itself, to allow for the adjustment of each string both individually and in relation to each other.

Musical Instrument Stores

dj

Musical instruments are as old as music and there are some traditional instruments that date back to centuries before. Every country has its own kinds of music and musical instruments that are unique to its culture.

Most classical singers still use traditionally designed instruments for traditional songs. The craftsmen who make these instruments are also different, having inherited the art from their ancestors. However, there are also newer manufacturers of musical instruments who make them for commercial sale. Most of them sell the instruments directly or through dealers and music stores. The main categories of musical instruments are chordophones (strings), aerophones (woodwinds and brasses), idiophones (percussion), and membranophones (drums).

Musical instrument stores today are almost superstores. They host several kinds of musical instruments that can be chosen by brand name, by the make, or by the price. They house top brands like AKG, Auralex, CBI, Conquest, DiMarzio, Elixir, Ernie Ball, Furman, GHS, Hosa, Monster Cable, Proco, Proel, Rolls, SKB, and Whirlwind. Musical instruments stores also sell recording equipment, DJ equipment, and live sound equipment, along with the other accessories like guitar amps, keyboard controllers, computer music hardware, stands and footstools, cables and cable accessories, speakers, straps and strap locks, microphone accessories, studio furniture, racks and cases, acoustic foam, headphones and headphone amps, covers, power supplies and batteries, and more.

There are discount musical instrument stores, as well, that offer attractive discounts, lowest prices, free-financing options, and easy return policies. Some give discounts up to even eighty percent. They also give away some accessories for free with the instruments. These offers can be found in advertisements in newspapers. The Internet is also a very good source for knowing about the latest offers, as well as for viewing and comparing products and products deals online. The instruments can also be ordered online.

Physicians have always had to juggle the tasks of their office. Often, small practices could not afford to hire an office staff and the physician would have to do it all; see patients, make appointment, and fill out and submit medical claims to insurance companies. The problem was physicians would rely on the payment from the insurance company and if a mistake were made the claim would be rejected, leaving the physician to start all over again.

In today's technology based workplace, a physician does not have to do everything him or herself. There are companies who have specially trained professionals to assist you in your billing needs, giving the physician more time to spend with patients.

Medical billing today is an integral part of healthcare. Healthcare providers understand that billing is a serious part of the medical practices financial status, as do the billing companies that process their claims.

Medical billing is the process of collecting fees for medical services. It is a highly specialized field that requires special training. Billing is an important part of a medical practice because it is the one thing that can hinder payment from the insurance company and put the practice into financial crisis.

Handling medical claims in the office could lead to financial hardship if the insurance company finds any mistakes and rejects the claim.

A medical billing company specializes in billing for any type of medical facility. The can process claims infinitely faster because all claims are filed electronically. This means that the claims are paid in days instead of weeks or months.

Many medical practices hire a person to file their medical claims; the problem with this is that all of the "I's" need to be dotted and the "T's" need to be crossed or the insurance company will reject the claim and the process will start all over again. This can create a huge problem if more than one claim is rejected.

These companies track each claim to insure that it is accepted and to make changes should mistakes occur. The claim is resubmitted electronically, and what used to take months now only takes hours.

Many medical practices need to have employees who can multi task, when billing is involved, it requires total concentration and attention to detail. This often means that a practice will have to hire an additional person to do the billing. It is an added expense that any practice can do without when they hire a medical billing company. Often, the cost of using a medical billing company is less than a full time employee.

The success of billing is astounding. More than ninety percent of all claims are accepted on the first submission, allowing medical practices to receive payment for their services much faster then any other method.

One of the biggest advantages to billing is that anyone in the medical field can use a billing services. Dermatologist to Phlebotomist can use medical billing to submit their claims.

Why EzineArticles is Invaluable For New Internet Marketers

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
dj

Are you interested in using search engines to get more website traffic? If so, you might be tempted to pay hundreds maybe even thousands to a SEO firm to get high rankings for your site. Don't make such a move. Even if a SEO firm is proven to increase Web traffic for their clients sites, you don't want to spend money unnecessarily. Instead, consider using Ezinearticles, one of the best sites for webmasters interested in acquiring free website traffic.

How does Ezinearticles work? Basically, you write articles on topics related to your website. If your topics contain popular keywords, Google will notice your articles very quickly and begin ranking them in its search engine results. The reason this occurs is because Ezinearticles is already ranked very high in Google. In fact, it has a page rank of 6, which means it is consistently getting its own stream of organic website traffic.

Of course, like anything there are two catches you need to look out for when using Ezinearticles to get more website traffic. First, beginning authors are only limited to 10 articles. If these articles are found to be worthwhile, the editors of the site will allow you to attain Platinum status, which means you can submit as many articles as you please. But if your articles are poorly-written, overly stuffed with keywords, or contain any other undesirable elements, you will not be eligible for Platinum status.

The second catch involves the types of sites you can promote. Ezinearticles does not allow for affiliate links, third-level domain names, (which are typically given with free hosting), or URL redirects. This means that any site you promote, along with the domain name must be your own.

Yet, don't let this requirement deter you if you're an avid affiliate marketer. You can still promote your affiliate sites, just as long as you use a legitimate website to do it. One technique could involve using a pre-sales page, where you would introduce your reader to your product. If they're interested, they can click through to the affiliate link. Alternatively, you can consider using a squeeze page. This is when you collect your readers names and email addresses in exchange for some type of incentive, such as a product or an e-book. Through this process you can compile an email list, which you can use for long-term promotion.

So, to get the most out of Ezinearticles, make sure your first 10 articles are very solid and don't forget to link to your own website. Hopefully, if you do things correctly, you'll be promoted to Platinum status, allowing you unlimited potential for free website traffic.

The 12 part E-course walks you through step by step on how to get the traffic coming to your site. This is traffic that you just put your time into, you don't have to spend any money for it. Find out more at http://www.newwebtraffic.com

Many people believe that just because a person owns a medical practice they have a lot of money. In some instances this can be true however, many times a physician can own a medical practice and still have very little money to show for it. This is not because he or she is not a good physician, most often it is because he or she lacks the skills to run the business end of their practice efficiently.

More and more physicians are finding that using a medical billing service actually helps them to run a more efficient office.

A medical billing company has trained professionals that will handle all of the billing needs from coding to submission to the insurance companies.

Many insurance companies today have reputations of being notorious for denying claims that have been submitted for the most ridiculous reasons.

A busy medical practice that submits their claims on their own is more likely to have those claims denied than if a medical billing service was used.

If a medical practice sees fifty patients a day, then fifty medical claim forms must be filled out and submitted. This means that the person who fills out the claims manually must go through the entire process fifty times a day manually and mail it to the insurance company where it will sit in stacks of thousands of other claims waiting to be entered into the insurance company computers. If there is one mistake, the claim will be rejected and sent back to the medical practice to be filled out properly.

This means that the person who fills out the medical claims will have more work than he or she can handle. It can be very frustrating.

Even if the claims are filled out correctly, it can take several weeks to several months to receive a check from the insurance company. For a small medical practice, it can be devastating if several claims are denied at the same time.

A medical billing service takes all of the headaches and frustration away because they handle every aspect of medical billing. Trained professionals code the claims and submit them to the insurance companies electronically, eliminating the process of manually entering them at the insurance company.

Another benefit is that a medical billing company offers is that they will follow the claim from beginning to end, making sure that there are no problems. They also have an excellent acceptance rate of over ninety percent.

When a claim is submitted electronically, it is either accepted or rejected immediately. When it is accepted, a reimbursement check is sent out within days and not weeks or months.
For small medical practices that rely on the insurance reimbursement checks to operate their business, a medical billing company is a godsend. Many think that the cost of a medical billing company is more than they can pay; however when you look at what you could lose, the cost is really quite reasonable.

Medical billing companies are available to everyone in the medical industry no matter what their specialty is.

Disturbia Movie Review

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
dj

This film is by and large the teenage version of "Rear Window" with a little bit of "The Burbs" thrown in. Although the influences and similarities are there, "Disturbia" is still an effective and fun thriller of a teenage boy who is under house arrest after assaulting his Spanish teacher and has nothing to do for three months than to spy on his neighbours. The youthful approach to the material is really what makes this fresh, with director DJ Caruso utilising this to full effect by having our hero and his friend spying on the hot girl next door who eventually gets involved in their spying activities. It all goes south when they discover that one of their reclusive neighbours could in fact be a serial killer, and much like "The Burbs", this film has a lot of fun of playing the "is he or isn't he?" theme. There are some likeable performances from all the main actors, the action and thrilling scenes are by and large well executed and are never dull despite being filmed mostly in one location, and as such, "Disturbia" is an effective little thriller that at varying times is amusing, dramatic, scary and moving.

"Disturbia" is not really a horror movie, although it does contain some horror elements, particularly towards the end. Those of you who like your blood spilt en masse will likely to be disappointed, but for those of you who enjoy psychological paranoia with a touch of voyeurism, you're likely to enjoy this film quite a lot. Much of what makes this film work is that you're never quite sure if Shia LaBeouf's character Kale Brecht is being over-the-top paranoid or if he's right, because there are lots of moments that provide suspicion but never any concrete proof. David Morse who plays Robert Turner in particular does an effective job of masking his possible culpability, always looking like a nice, if reclusive citizen who wants his privacy respected. Of course, those who enjoy the voyeuristic nature of things will appreciate the first half of the film where Kale is spying on his neighbours. Although it may not be done as masterfully as say a Hitchcock film, it still provides an insight in to that aspect of human behaviour which is within all of us.

The performances in the film are actually quite reasonable for what is in essence a teen flick; they can all be taken a lot more seriously and much of this resides in the lead actor Shia LeBeouf's portrayal of Kale Brecht. He infuses the whole situation with a youthful angst and enthusiasm that ultimately drives the whole plot along. He's a convicted felon within the first few minutes after assaulting his Spanish teacher, but this makes the tension greater as the people around him, save his friends, are less likely to believe his seeming paranoid delusions. His friends Ronnie and Ashley played by Aaron Yoo and Sarah Boemer are also quite effective in their roles, and are quite likeable and never annoying despite their quirks. It's a surprise to see Carrie-Ann Moss play a domesticated mother, especially after her ass-kicking tough girl performances from the Matrix films, but she does it very effectively and believably.

David Morse gives an extremely chilling performance as the bizarre neighbour Robert Turner who the teenagers suspect is a serial killer. Aside from being quietly spoken and articulate, he infuses the character with a real sense of fury bubbling beneath the surface that could explode at any moment. Perhaps the most scary scene in the film is not in the final sequences where he is revealed to be the serial killer and he's chasing Kale and killing people, but the scene where mid-way through the film he stops Ashley in her tracks while she is driving her SUV. He leans in to the car, takes the key out of the ignition, jumps in to the car and locks the doors, proceeding to give her a lecture about how he doesn't like his privacy invaded and that they should keep well enough alone. In these moments, you get the strange and unique impression that he actually wouldn't have killed any one in the neighbourhood, especially his neighbours, if they had left him alone and not pried in to his affairs or history. This makes his killer somewhat unique; as if he would have quietly done what he needed to do in the sanctity of his own dark basement and not bothered those directly near him.

The film is well shot, particularly when you consider that ninety percent of the film takes place entirely in one location. Kudos to the production designer for designing a neighbourhood set that looks very realistic but at the same time is always good to look at, particularly Shia's house which must have been a cinematographer's dream to light, particularly with all the lighting opportunities that the set afforded the production. The colours in the picture look marvellous as well, even in the darker, more horror-style scenes at the end where a more chilling atmosphere is imposed as opposed to the warmer, brighter ambience established earlier in the film.

"Disturbia" is a fun, entertaining little thriller that is cut above most in its genre.

Adding Windmill Power To Your Home

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
dj

By adding a wind turbine to your home, you are providing an alternate source of energy. Creating electricity using windmill power< can help you reduce what you pay for utilities. Consider being able to live where power lines just won't go, or having power during a storm. Having a wind turbine would be a real advantage for situations like these. It's good for the environment, too. Future generations may use nothing but windmills to power their homes. And it could have a great effect on the economy.

Wind energy is one of the lowest priced renewable energy technologies available today. Stand alone systems, or off-grid living has its advantages. If you choose to live or build a home in a remote area where power lines are prohibited or not available, a wind turbine can power your home. Another reason consumers purchase small wind turbines for their home is to be energy independent from the local utility companies. As a part of being independent, or just having that alternate energy source available, these machines are built sleek as well as neat looking. Most have low maintenance. Over time a small wind turbine will pay for itself, an investment well worth the price you paid for it.

Wind turbines are good for the environment simply because they rely totally on the wind. That means no air pollutants or toxic gases are released into the atmosphere.

Another one of the nice things about your wind turbine is that if it is producing more electricity than your home is actually using, most times the local utility company will purchase the extra power from you. Depending on how much power you use, and how much your turbine generates, that can be a decent amount of money. Sometimes consumers buy home wind turbines just to be able to run a generator should their power go out. This can provide quite a bit of peace of mind.

Before purchasing a system, it would be a good idea to find out about any restrictions or obstacles when it comes to installing a windmill power system. For example, some places restrict the height of any structure in residential areas. There might be prohibitions on some types of structures in certain zoned areas.

Approach buying a vertical turbine system like you would in buying a car or a boat. Look over literature from more than the first company you find. Find out how long the warranty lasts on the windmill you intend to purchase. Understand the basics of a small wind system, and even take a look at combining the alternate energy with energy, and its effects. Or if it is going to be the primary source of your home, calculate the power wattage compared to the power consumption you plan on using.

Some states offer tax credits or rebates to home owners with household wind turbines, which offsets the installation or purchase price of the machine. A consumer can check with the local utility company, the utility commission, or a local energy office to find out about these incentives. Or if they are available at your location.

Companies are more than happy to help you purchase a household wind turbine system specifically designed to meet your needs.

Whether or not to add a windmill to your home is a decision only you can make. However, when weighing the advantages and disadvantages, you might find that these lists aren't the same length. It's an investment that helps the economy and you might not have as much out of pocket cash going to your nearest utility company.

Sammy Hagar I Never Said Goodbye Rock Music CD Review

I Never Said Goodbye is the latest Rock CD put out by the highly talented Sammy Hagar who once again has delivered a brilliant collection of tracks. I’m confident Sammy Hagar fans, and Rock fans alike will be pleased with this one.

It's a rare day indeed that I get a CD from an artist that I can truthfully say does not have a bad track in the bunch. I'm more than happy to announce that’s exactly what I must say about this one. There simply is NOT a bad one in the bunch. No fillers here at all, with each song standing tall on it's own.

Rock music fans will recognize some of the well known guests that have been assembled to play along with Hagar on several of the tracks. Artists like Eddie Van Halen and David Thoener just to name a couple.

I’m of the opinion that I Never Said Goodbye is certainly Sammy Hagar’s best work in a few years. A totally enjoyable CD and an outstanding release. What I call must have music. I give it two thumbs up because it’s a collection that even the casual Rock fan can appreciate and enjoy.

While the entire album is outstanding some of my favorites are track 1 - When The Hammer Falls, track 2 - Hands And Knees, and track 6 - Standin' At The Same Old Crossroads

My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 10 - What They Gonna Say Now. Outstanding!
