Podcasting Technique #1

Discover podcasting

Even if you have a basic understanding of podcasting-do you know precisely what podcast is all about and how it works? Have you listened and subscribed to podcasts? I recommend you take a few days becoming familiarized with podcasting before attempting to record your own podcast.

Start Listening To Podcasts

As I described above it's also a good idea to start listening to podcasts so you can get a feel for what podcasting is all about. Podcast Alley lists thousands of podcasts. There are several popular podcasting directories like Podcast Alley listing many podcast. Take a look at the top 50 podcasts listed in Podcast Alley and listen to some of those podcasts. This is an excellent way of getting a feel for what podcasting is all about.

Podcasting Technique #2

Understand Your Niche

What passion do you share with others? Who is your target audience? What is your goal? Understanding your niche will not only help you in your podcast marketing endeavors but in any type of marketing. If you're doing article marketing you want to provide your niche with articles that will help your reader not just blast them with your affiliate link. This also applies to podcast marketing. Know your audience and what is you're trying accomplish.

If your goal is to build your credibility online within a niche than you need to be offer real value and knowledge to your listeners. This will take more ongoing podcasting and offering expert advice. Compared to podcasting to be listed in the directories for tapping new traffic. Than all you need is a few short podcasts. I explain this in more detail in my Niche Podcasting Guide but regardless of what marketing campaigns you're involved with the better understanding you have about your niche-the better you will do in that niche.

Develop Your Plan Of Attack

What do you need to learn? There are many sources online that will help you start podcasting. Once you have the needed information (don't waste time re-inventing the wheel use a guide) start developing your plan of attack. What equipment do you need? How about software? What specific date will you start podcasting? Do you have support in place to help you out?

Find Your Voice

Most of us can't stand the sound of our own voice. That was a tough barrier for me to break. But guess what-your recorded voice is not as bad as you think it is. Trust me on this. You might think it sounds awful but to other it won't. So just start recording to overcome this obstacle.

Be yourself! The beauty of podcasting is that it's not radio. The last thing we need is another radio DJ wannabe. You know what I'm talking about. It doesn't matter if you're from the Americas, Europe, Australia, Asia, we all have those over the top, cheesy, radio announcers. That is not what podcasting is all about. So be yourself and you will find your voice and you're listeners will become rabid fans!

Podcast What?

This is another fear many future podcasters wrestle with but you shouldn't fret.  The beauty of podcasting is that listeners don't want the typical radio fodder so just be yourself.  And don't forget about video.  Are you leveraging the power of video marketing (you should)? If you have videos on YouTube-use that same video file and turn it into a podcast. It's an over looked fact that podcasting is not just audio. Video podcasting is very popular and you can use your existing videos and turn those into "new" video podcasts even if the actual video file is a year old.

I've bought many Internet marketing e-books and I'm active in the forums so I know how often folks say this: TAKE ACTION!

But a reason many successful marketers and gurus use that line is for a reason-it's true. If you want to make a DJ playlist, you need to first think about your audience.

(After all, it is the audience you want to keep happy right?)

Here are some considerations to make -

  • Ages - Are they mostly younger or older? What if it's a broad range of ages? What music would cross these age gaps?
  • Gender - Mostly girls? Mostly guys?
  • Culture - Are they from another culture? Would they like some ethnic music?
  • Socio-Culture - Even if they are not from another culture, sociology still plays a big part of choosing your music wisely.
  • Venue - Is the venue a dance venue? Maybe it's a country music venue? What about jazz?
  • Event - Is it a wedding? A birthday or just a party?



All things must be carefully considered in order to strike a balance of the right music played at the right time.

Playing music that keeps 99% of the crowd happy at all times is the mark of a great DJ. (You can't keep 100% of the people happy 100% of the time, no DJ in the world could do that!). But try and aim to keep the vast majority of the room in a good mood and you will get a lot of referrals and great kudos.

Word of mouth advertising is 10 times more effective than any paid advertising.

Do a great job right from your very first gig and you will never be out of paid work. (And really well paid work once you gain a good reputation!)

Don't be one of those DJs who spends hundreds (or even thousands) on their equipment but deny the most important aspect of what a DJ is employed for ... the music!

I recommend that aspiring DJs should build a great library of music FIRST. Even before they buy all the equipment needed. Controlling Your Eating Habits

A vast majority of the people that have come to me over the years that wish to reduce their weight initially perceive the idea of changing dietary patterns as being next to impossible. Many are consumed by the fear that they simply do not have the willpower to eat correctly, and are overpowered by guilt and a sense of failure when they diverge from the path.

This article is meant to provide an overview of proven, tried and true methods of changing your eating habits. It also gives an overview of eating disorders as well, as so often many of us struggle with our food intake to the point of pathology.

Each of the articles that I write are painstakingly researched and backed up by my own personal experience as one that has worked with so many over the past several years to improve their way of eating. I write so that others may benefit from this experience and take solace in the fact that as hard as it may seem, change is very much possible. I hope you find the article to be of use.

Binge eating disorder is a condition that probably affects millions here in the United States and around the world. People with binge eating disorder often consume large amounts of food while feeling a real loss of control over their eating.1 This disorder differs from binge-purge syndrome (bulimia nervosa) since people with binge eating disorder usually do not purge afterward by vomiting or using laxatives.

Most people overeat from time to time, and many feel that they frequently eat more than they should. However eating large amounts of food and even being over one's ideal weight does not mean that a person has binge eating disorder, on the contrary many individuals that are considered to be in good shape actually do have serious problems with their attitudes towards food, to the point where it can indeed be classified as a disorder. The criteria for binge eating disorder are:

• Frequent episodes of eating what others would consider an abnormally large amount of food.
• Frequent feelings of being unable to control what or how much is being eaten.
• Several of these behaviors or feelings:

1. Eating much more rapidly than usual.
2. Eating until uncomfortably full.
3. Eating large amounts of food, even when not physically hungry.
4. Eating in isolation out of embarrassment at the quantity of food being eaten.
5. Feelings of disgust, depression, or guilt after overeating.2,3

Episodes of binge eating also occur in the eating disorder bulimia nervosa, a condition that affects many bodybuilders and fitness models in numbers higher many would expect. Persons with bulimia regularly purge, fast, or engage in an unhealthy pattern of prolonged strenuous exercise after an episode of binge eating. The purging process is usually understood as vomiting but it can also include the use of diuretics (water pills) or laxatives in greater-than-recommended doses to avoid gaining weight- practices that many in the health and fitness circles regularly engage in to allow themselves to maintain their look.

Fasting is defined as not eating for at least twenty-four hours. Strenuous exercise, in this case, is defined as exercising for more than an hour, but not as a means to better health and or self improvement, but rather as a reactive practice meant solely to avoid gaining weight after a binge. Purging, fasting, and prolonged strenuous exercise are dangerous ways to attempt weight control. Excessive shape and weight concerns are also characteristics of bulimia, issues that may seem benign in someone in extremely good shape, but when explored can sometimes reveal that their 'being in shape' is not at all the result of a balanced approach to health and fitness and is inevitability self destructive.

As was mentioned previously, many competitive bodybuilders suffer from some form of the aforementioned eating disorders. The only difference is that their cycle of weight gain and weight loss, extreme dieting, nutrient deprivation and dehydration combined with the thousands of hours of almost daily prolonged periods of strenuous exercise has become almost socially acceptable. Be that as it may, the extreme practice of that particular lifestyle falls within the realm of a disorder nevertheless. That applies for those that employ the use of illegal drugs and for those that make the claim of being natural.

Unless there is a real balance where overall health is prioritized over attainment of a transient cosmetic appearance such as being big or having an extremely low body fat level, it is a disorder and has no relation to health and fitness whatsoever.

Psychological disorders aside, there is research that indicates that a pattern of weight gain and weight loss (yo-yo dieting) is not all healthy. This is true as much for the competitive athlete as it is for members of the general population. Studies show possible harmful effects for large weight regains including increased cardiovascular risk factors and type 2 diabetes in overweight/obese individuals. Harmful metabolic changes may also occur in young, normal weight individuals who do not need to lose weight as well as decreased immune system function and reduction in bone density in women.4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12

There are other eating disorders that can also often go unrecognized. Night Eating Syndrome is a prime example and it is one that many can relate to, albeit in a less extreme form. Night Eating Syndrome is characterized by a lack of appetite for breakfast; the consumption of more than half of daily food intake calories after the evening meal, and waking up at night to consume high calorie, high-carbohydrate snacks and insomnia.3 Foods eaten during the nighttime binge are almost always unhealthy. After the night binge, the person is usually not hungry in the morning, and breakfast, the most important meal of the day is skipped.
The excessive food intake at night also creates a decrease in melatonin, a critical sleep relate hormone. Research has shown that the decrease in melatonin contributes to increased sleep disturbances and insomnia.

Again, it should be stated that most people may not have the characteristics of this particular syndrome to the extent that it becomes pathological, but the pattern of almost uncontrollable late night snacking on high carbohydrate and unhealthy foods is a very common issue for many individuals.

While the general population may not be diagnosed as having an eating disorder, most still find the task of controlling their eating habits to be an almost impossible endeavor. However there are practical and systematic approaches that make the likelihood of success much greater and none of them involve quick fixes.

The first key is an understanding of our patterns with regard to food consumption. The development of an intimate understanding and, in the course of time, patiently learn how to modify one's behavior.

Simply resolving to no longer eat unhealthy foods is not the answer for most, nor does the answer lie in fad diets. If that were the case then everyone would be successful in their attempts at weight control and that certainly is not the case. There must instead be an unrelenting commitment to a change in lifestyle. One that is divorced from the destructive perspective that somehow there must be some form of atonement for failures to stay on track.

It is almost human nature to believe that when a 'wrong' is committed, that a period of guilt is required, followed by penance of some sort. Unfortunately, this is very much a reality with regards the way most perceive their diet. The individual falters, eating something that falls into the category of forbidden, and falls into a downward spiral of self hatred and disgust. This self inflicted flagellation is followed by a resolve to either exercise more, diet harder or employ some extreme method to compensate for the 'damage' done by their indulgence. (Sound familiar?).

Physiologically speaking, there isn't anything that can be done to compensate for a slip in one's diet. Nothing at all. What is done is done and any attempts to try to undo the past are simply wasted exercises in magical thinking as they have no foundations in reality. This way of thinking can very easily lead towards the aforementioned eating disorders and pathologies and not the intended goal of attaining a healthy body. Instead the slips must be looked upon as what they are; learning experiences that teach us more about ourselves since every slip holds the information necessary to help avoid their continued reoccurrence.

The limited idea of getting into shape for summer or for a contest does not permit a transition towards this way of thinking. However the idea of getting into shape over the course of several years for reasons rooted in self care does. Nothing worth achieving comes quickly, having control over one's eating habits are no exception. It takes practice and patience. True achievements stem from a lifetime of dedication. It took me the span of two decades to be able to do it, and without the slips and failures encountered along the way, I would not be able to do it as easily as I do today.

The other important factor is an understanding of the dynamics behind learned behavior.

When you decide, for example, that you are no longer going to eat unhealthy foods, your new attitude only serves to supplement your original behavior where eating unhealthy foods were acceptable. Behavioral psychology has found what many of us in the trenches, so to speak have learned through objective observations. Namely that the very habits that we seek to change resurface because they are not fully forgotten. New and old ways of thinking coexist as opposing impulses that will always be in competition unless steps are taken to disarming undesirable attitudes.13

Disarming those attitudes requires a fundamental change in perception, a change that comes only with time and patience. It is only when you are able to enjoy foods that are good for you that you will be able to break the cycle. Again, it does not happen overnight but a consistent diet of wholesome foods would eventually bring about the conclusion that many of them are very much enjoyable and you would find yourself craving the very foods that are good for you, because they would physically make you feel better. The temptation to indulge in the foods that you wished to avoid therefore fades into the background, a temptation that over time is simply forgotten.

This is the same progression that allows me to maintain my diet all year round without any exceptions whatsoever, and the one that has worked unfailingly for innumerable individuals that I have been honored to work with over the past seventeen years as a professional trainer. I know that many of you are asking yourselves how you could possibly stay on a diet of only healthy foods long enough to get to a point where the old habits are pushed aside. Taken by itself it would indeed seem to be a daunting task. The answer lies in a very specific regime of infrequent, high intensity resistance training. Training that forces change on every level of the individual's existence; on a cellular level, building new muscle and burning fat, creating in the process an appetite for the very foods that the body would need to support the new growth. Finally on a spiritual level, opening the doors to a whole new way of perceiving the world, one where limits are constantly being re-evaluated and where the seemingly impossible task of breaking free of the perpetually destructive cycle of weight loss and weight becomes very much a reality. A Guide For Creating Great Wedding Invitations

It's an extraordinarily important choice in your life to decide to get married. Since it's so important, the wedding plans made have to go off as efficiently as they can. There are so many decisions to make when it comes to this planning, and even the smallest details need to be checked. Every decision, small and large, will impact the event. This notion can be quite stressful to the betrothed.

The most important decisions are the most obvious; for example, where the wedding will be held, what the bride and bridesmaid will wear, the rings, etc. But it's the smaller details of the event that are equally as important, and not to be overlooked. And to those couples who have never been married before, these things that seem minor are the most poorly thought or, or even completely forgotten.

To help them along, many couples decide on engaging the services of a wedding consultant. It isn't terribly difficult to find them, especially through the internet. You can find many consultants or planners through the web, by Google searching and looking over their websites, to see if they fit what you are looking for.

But many couples decide to do all the wedding planning on their own, with little or no outside help. If that's the case with you, the internet can still be a great tool to find what you need. But keep in mind that if you are doing it yourself to save money, it may cost more in time (or even money) to get things done before the wedding.

Wedding invitations are one of those details that are often taken for granted by couples, and therefore not planned out. But they are extremely important, and in fact essential for any wedding event. That's because your guests need to know the time and location of the wedding (and for that matter, that there will even BE a wedding!). Your guests will need to plan in advance to attend, and need to know where to go on that day.

And if you plan them correctly, wedding invitations can provide more detail for your guests besides time and place. They can include directions on how to get there, where they can park, where they can sit, what motel they can stay at if they need to, etc.

Not only are the invitations important for providing information, they can also reflect on the couple and event itself. If you have attractive, well-designed cards with beautiful calligraphy, and perhaps a photo, they will be treasured by the recipients always. But poorly designed sloppy cards will just be thrown away. Also the type of paper they are on needs to be thought out. Thick stock paper is good, and there are many colors and styles to choose from. Whether the cards will be glossy or not, a good idea is to see if the card is something you yourself would like to receive. Remember, a wedding is a very special day in your life, and you want your guests to share in how wonderful and special it is.

Other details to consider are the pattern and border of the cards. A lovely design of the card can greatly compliment the event itself. If your wedding will have a theme, then the design and wording of the card should reflect that theme.

Besides the invitations, there are other details that are often neglected, but yet are important to a wedding. The reception location for example; places need to be checked out ahead of time to make sure they aren't dumps. Also decorations, colors of the outfits, the band or DJ you use, the limos. Every detail needs to be checked and double-checked. Doing so will make your wedding truly a day to remember always, both for you and your guests.

Team building, leadership quality, and different management skills are what most corporations are concerned about. Driven by a motive to maximize the out-put from the employees, corporate events are planned to hone these skills of their employees. Indoor and outdoor corporate events are designed in a way that is entertaining as well as rewarding for learning experiences.

Corporations take their entertainment part seriously. Due to this event, managers have prepared to accommodate their corporate event entertainment in their portfolios. Tour operators and vacation operators are increasingly eager to cater to corporate event entertainment. Simply having a dinner to the accompaniment of music and dance is only a part of what is offered for corporate entertainment. Many facets are included in corporate event entertainment. To develop the quality of risk a company may decide to send its top management on a sky diving trip. Alternatively, if the idea is to develop a sense of humor for its customer service department a company may plan for screening of comedy movies, jokes by stand up comedians and workshops to encourage the participants to narrate humorous incidents, among other things.

Corporations are aware that their culture is instrumental in deciding their productivity and profit as much as their product. Interactive comedy shows are now a rage in corporate event entertainment circles. Breakthrough Chord Structure Makes Playing Piano a Breeze!

Do you know why playing guitar is so much easier than playing piano? It's because guitar players learn how to use chords first. Even before note reading!

They usually learn how to play chords in the first position. Called open position chords, the beginning guitarist quickly learns how to finger this position and can immediately create music. That's why so many people love the guitar and want to learn it!

They don't waste time learning "the masters" or anything like that at all. Nope. It's all contemporary. Unless of course it's classical guitar.

Now why can't those interested in learning piano have the same benefits? After all, it's not like everyone wants to learn how to play Bach or Beethoven.

The good news is you can play piano using only chords. But not just any chords. I'm talking about learning a chord structure that will have you sounding like a professional right away! It's called the Open Position Chord and with it, you'll be able to create your own unique music!

I know it sounds far-fetched. I didn't think I could make my own music either until I discovered this chord position from a book titled "The Four-Way Keyboard System." In it, the author Alan Swain goes into great detail about the benefits of learning this chord structure.

I didn't have to really read what he wrote. I just played it. And I was hooked! Here was something I could learn quite easily. And I could learn it in all 12 keys - just as easily! I had found what I was looking for. A modern sounding chord that would let me improvise with both hands at the piano right away AND sound good doing it!

Most of us know what triads are. This 3-note chord structure has been used to introduce students to chording on the piano. But learning triads isn't necessarily the best place to start. In fact, there really is no good reason to begin your piano studies with triads.

Listen, if your goal is to read music and play kum-ba-ya, then by all means, spend countless hours learning how to read music and play triads. But, if you want to improvise and create your own unique music, I can think of no better chord structure than the open position chord!

Being in the right frame of mind goes a long way. When you learn how to play the piano you will come across times when mastering a particular technique is difficult. This is all part of the learning experience.

Think positive thoughts and push yourself into correcting your mistakes. With the right mind set you know you can conquer any obstructions along the way such as committing the notes to memory, practicing your scales until perfect and skimming your fingers expertly across the keyboard.

Take no notice of anyone who chooses to criticize the fact that you are learning to play the piano. Totally ignore any negative remarks and get on with pursing your goals.

Determination: Constantly Push Yourself

You decided to learn how to play the piano so having given yourself the initial push to stick at it until you have reached your goals. Playing the piano requires determination so do everything you can to keep focused and achieve what you set out to do in the first place.

If you are determined you will push yourself to your limits and any thoughts about not being able to do it will be eliminated from your mind. An example of this is finding it difficult to co-ordinate both hands at the same time. If you continue to practice your scales your sheer determination will soon have your fingers gliding over the keyboard in a professional way.

With each difficulty you conquer you will be one step nearer in your efforts to learn how to play the piano.

Discipline: Stick to Your Regime

We all know that the cliché 'practice makes perfect' is true for most things. You will become disciplined when you learn how to play the piano and your motivation levels will soar looking ahead to your next music lesson.

Discipline ensures you adhere to a schedule and practice as you should for at least two hours each day. Discipline will make you more dedicated to learning about the skills of piano playing.

Perseverance: When the Going Gets Tough - Keep Going

Perseverance is the key here and you should regard your desire to play the piano as a personal achievement. There may be times when you feel too tired to practice, or you may simply be being a little lazy but think about your goals and keep going.

Learn the notes by mnemonics and look at videos of well known piano players to get your inspiration. Remember to practice until you get the techniques just right.

Passion: The Voice in Your Head and the Feeling in Your Heart

Passion is the voice you often hear in your head or that feeling of fire within your heart which keeps you focused and pushes you forward in your pursuit. Having a passion in your life is a great gift and to be able to do what you love is the best gift of all.

Play and toys are a very important part of the development of your child. There are some things that parents can do to make sure that their child is getting the best possible use of their playtime to help them develop the skills that they will need in their later years.

The toys that parents choose for their child should be age appropriate. This is perhaps one of the most important factors to look for when you are shopping for toys. If you buy toys that are too young for your child, they will not learn anything from the toys that you are providing. Likewise, toys that are too far beyond your child can result in frustration on the part of your child and they will not play with them.
