Virtual DJs

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
dj

During its initial stages, a DJ’s job was a difficult and expensive career option. It required amateurs to purchase expensive equipment that needed to be carried along to every event. The development of computer software and hardware proved to be a boon for most businesses. Similarly, becoming a DJ became much simpler with the introduction of a virtual disc jockey.

Virtual disc jockey is a popular MP3 mixing software available in the market. It is ideal for all DJs, from beginners to professionals and helps create great mixes in a short span of time. This recent technological breakthrough is designed to help mix beats and create any new rhythm by mixing any particular song with a variety of beats. The beat lock feature makes it intelligent software. It can automatically alter a pitch to match the BPM (beats per minute). The software can speed up or slow down the discs in order to match a rhythm and can continue to do so with any type of music.

Virtual disc jockey software has a song-positioning feature that helps control a song. Users can click on any part of a song and hear that part before they are actually played. A pitch control feature helps modifying the speed of a song. Sample buttons permit users to listen to small trials and jingles. The software can be used efficiently to create innovative remixes.

The mere mixing of a song in a few minutes does not make a good DJ. It is important that songs should be matched for tempo and beats before being played aloud. Virtual Disc Jockey has made the art of disc jockeying a simpler task and has revolutionized the music scene.

From media executives to corporate lawyers, and from artists holding down day jobs and waiting for a big break to actors working multiple roles and hoping for a huge part, NYC is full of people who work incredibly hard. And because of this, it's full of people who know how to party. NYC nightclubs have helped define who the city is, and who's who in the city, for almost a century.

One of NYC's greatest literary establishments is The New Yorker, many of whose early stars met together (and drank together) at the Algonquin. While not technically an NYC nightclub, the venue was a great place for the witty elites of the city to meet and exchange quips. New Yorker editor Harold Ross was a regular -- at the time, his magazine often reviewed speakeasies.

During the later 1920's, jazz musicians popularized their craft and expanded their repertoires at several well-known NYC nightclubs. At first confined to Harlem, Jazz clubs soon dotted 52nd street in Manhattan, displacing other NYC nightclubs. One club that would soon be associated with Jazz performances was The Apollo, which like many NYC nightclubs of the era did not admit African American guests or performers until the 1930's. The club's defining feature -- aside from the incredible array of talented musicians who performed there -- was the "Executioner", a man with a broom who "swept" away acts if the audience booed them.

After prohibition, many speakeasies converted themselves into more typical NYC nightclubs, offering patrons a combination of entertainment, socializing, and drinks that proved to be a winning mix. During the 1960's, nightclubs in Berkeley and Paris pioneered a new technique of playing music constantly without breaks. This would soon spread to clubs worldwide, including NYC nightclubs, and would eventually give rise to the disco trend.

During the 1970's and early 1980's, NYC nightclubs were dominated by disco -- a combination of dance-oriented, DJ-guided music and (in some cases) extremely potent sound systems, lighting displays, and drugs. Just as speakeasies had been a conduit for the most popular illegal substances of the 1920's, NYC nightclubs in the 1970's became a popular proving ground for new narcotics, and an easy place to find some more of the mainstays.

As the fervor for disco died down in the early 1980's, NYC nightclubs branched out. Today, NYC nightclubs can play everything from dance-oriented pop music to hip-hop to newer and edgier acts by unknown performers. The energy of the band is often infectious, and the combination of great music, new friends, a fun atmosphere -- and maybe a little alcohol for social lubrication -- has proven irresistible.

Byrne Hobart is a New Yorker with widely, perhaps even bizarrely varied interests. He ought to spend more time at NYC nightclubs.

Nothing is comparable to the happiness on the day of wedding and at the same time, nothing is as painful and frightening as the preparations of wedding. Many would be ready with their wedding planning tips to guide you but hardly there would be any whom you can trust upon to share the responsibilities. That is why it is best keep a wedding plan book in your hand an year before the real day and start with the task planning and execution.

Before a year from wedding:

• Grab a wedding plan book.

• Decide the budget and wedding theme.

• Decide the day of wedding and the list of attendants.

• Booking of wedding hall, photographer, caterer, DJ and florist.

When nine months are left:

• Shopping of wedding gown, accessories, jewelry and shoes.

• A precise list of guests.

• Searching for the honeymoon destination. If it is peak season, you might face difficulty later.

When 6 months are left:

• Meeting all the wedding professionals to work on the respective tasks.

• The transportation facility and its availability and booking to be taken care of.

• Making and designing of wedding cards, stationary or kit.

• Final booking and budgeting of the honeymoon location.

• Shop for wedding rings.

When 3 months are left:

• Order wedding rings.

• Fix up visits to hair stylists.

• Research and book hotel rooms for guests who are coming from out of town.

• Follow up on wedding gown and trials.

When 6-8 weeks are left:

• Printing of wedding cards.

• Address and post the cards.

• Buy gifts for those who are special to you.

• Take the final delivery of wedding gown and accessories.

When only 10 days are left:

• Confirmation from caterer, florist, photographer and DJ.

• Confirm honeymoon reservation.

• A preliminary seating with hair stylist.

A week to go:

• Attend parties of wedding honors.

• Let the caterer have idea about the final count of guests.

• Proper check on the travel insurance and checks.

The final day of the wedding henceforth arrives and hopefully the above step by step guide will prove to be good wedding planning tips.

A Tropical Destination Wedding in Aruba

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
dj

You should consider planning a destination wedding in Aruba if you've always dreamed of being married on a breathtakingly beautiful tropical beach. It doesn't even have to break the bank, especially if you're planning your wedding from May-November. This is off peak season for Aruba, and your destination wedding will cost substantially less across the board.

During the off season you can find great deals on everything from flowers, catering, and hotels-- to complete wedding packages. Do a little online airline research for discounted airfares, and you've saved money in the major services that constitute the most costly parts of your wedding. Most hotels and resorts in Aruba offer off peak destination wedding packages because it gives them a chance to fill up their empty hotel rooms.

One of the reasons destination weddings have gained popularity so quickly is they make wedding planning so easy. Many hotels have wedding planners and coordinators on staff. They know the local trade, and can help you choose just the right details from the best local photographers, florists, caterers, and even music or DJ's. Most hotels even have complete wedding packages where the staff takes care of all the details. This can be a tremendous relief for the wedding couple, because the task of juggling the schedules of the wedding location, the reception, the photographer, and the music is all handled by someone else. This so stress free it is almost like having a point and click wedding.

Another option for a small intimate beach wedding is renting a luxury villa with a private beach.

Your wedding party and guests can all stay at the villa. The ceremony will be held on the beach that is part of your package. Many of these properties will even have a staff capable of helping you to make all your arrangements. They can also offer invaluable advice on where to buy dresses or other items you wouldn't want to risk traveling with.

I know what you're thinking...I don't want to honeymoon with our parents staying with us!!
Frankly I agree with you. You don't have to though. Typically, you can move to another villa or cottage for your private time. Your guests can even remain in the original villa for a few more days and have their own affordable tropical vacation.

If you're thinking, that doesn't sound very affordable to me. Let's think about it moment. If you research the two options: a traditional wedding in your area with all the trappings, then transportation to your honeymoon destination, and finally the honeymoon itself-you may be pleasantly surprised. Often, the destination wedding is around the same cost as a traditional one. Typically the bride and groom are responsible for the accommodations for all your wedding guests, but your guests pay their own airfare.

You can get surprisingly good deals at all inclusive resorts where all the food and drinks are included. Remember, you are taking advantage of the off season pricing, and the resort or other property's desire to fill their accommodations, They would rather sell a package of rooms at a discount than have them sit empty. You really can have a tropical honeymoon on a budget if you plan a destination wedding in Aruba.

In Flames, the richly talented Heavy Metal group have released their latest album titled Reroute To Remain and Wow! It’s really a good one.

Unfortunately, it’s not everyday that I get a CD for review that I can just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. There is usually a song or two that I just can’t force myself to get through. Not at all the case with Reroute To Remain. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.

Reroute To Remain has a pleasantly varied, mix of 14 tracks that are very well written and brilliantly performed songs by these clearly outstanding musicians. Most of the songs display a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Clearly drawing from what I can only imagine are their own personal experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions of love, heartbreak, pain, failed relationships and unattainable romance. They’re all here.

Overall Reroute To Remain is an outstanding release. What I call must have music. I give it two thumbs up and is most definitely a worthy addition to any Heavy Metal collection. Truly an outstanding Heavy Metal CD. One of those that is completely void of any wasted time, as each track is simply superb.

While this entire CD is really very good the truly standout tunes are track 1 - Reroute To Remain, track 7 - Dawn Of A New Day, and track 14 - Black and White.

My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 10 - Dismiss The Cynics. Wow!

Budgeting Your Wedding – 6 Tips To Help

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
dj

So, you want a beautiful wedding, but you want to make sure that you do not end up starting out your married life with a great deal of debt. Weddings today can get very expensive. However, there are a variety of ways that you can save money on your wedding ceremony and reception and still have a wonderful day. The following are some tips that can help you save a great deal money while still having a perfect wedding.

Tip 1 - Look Online - One of the best tips that can help you save money when you are planning your nuptials is to look online. You can often find much better deals when you start looking on the internet. Many times you can find wedding dresses, wedding favors, and various accessories online for a fraction of what you would pay for them in a retail store. Taking the time to do some research online can save you a great deal of your wedding budget.

Tip 2 - Set a Budget - Setting a budget is an important tip that can help you save when planning your wedding as well. Make sure that you set a reasonable budget and do not allow yourself to go over it. If you fail to set up a budget for your wedding reception and ceremony, more than likely you will spend a great deal more than you want to before you even realize it.

Tip 3 - Make Your Own Wedding Favors - Making your own wedding favors can save on your budget as well. You can come up with various favor ideas that are easy and inexpensive to make and it will cost you just a fraction of the price it would cost to purchase them.

Purchasing just the wedding favor packaging to put your homemade favors into will not only save you money, nice packaging will add a designer touch to your wedding decor. Even if you are not very creative you can find a variety of great tips online that can help you make great wedding favors.

Tip 4 - Choose a Buffet - Choosing to have the buffet instead of a sit down dinner will be very beneficial to your budget. A sit down dinner is much more expensive than having a buffet, and you can still get great food when you have a buffet. Your wedding guests will also enjoy more food and portion choices that come with a buffet style reception.

Tip 5 - Go with a DJ - If you want to save some money when it comes to music at your wedding, you may want to go with a DJ instead of a live band. DJ’s are much less expensive to hire than an entire band. This will also allow you to hear almost any song you and your groom want at the reception.

Tip 6 - Have an Afternoon Wedding - Choosing to having an afternoon wedding ceremony will cut down on expenses. Renting a church or a reception hall is usually more expensive in the evening and it will be harder to find an open date as well. If you have your wedding in the afternoon you are more likely to get a great price for both the church and the reception hall.

Finally, there are many ways to make your wedding budget go farther. With a little thoughtful planning, you won't have to sacrifice a beautiful wedding for a less expensive wedding.

Five Steps to Creating a Memorable Wedding

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
dj

Congratulations! You are getting married and ready to experience the best day of your life. A wedding is the most important event in a person's life, signaling the bond of two becoming one. There are less memorable things (such as Uncle Jack's love for open bars), but you can easily squeeze those memories out by creating a memorable experience of your own. It only needs a touch here or there, but it makes such a wonderful difference to your special day. Here are five steps for creating that memorable experience:

1. Pre-wedding pampering. This is usually a bride-exclusive event, but men need apply. Men might think it is 'weird,' among other unmentionable things, but it'll really freshen up their day, prepping them up for the ceremony. Weddings are stressful, so take some time beforehand to get a nice massage, have a relaxing facial, and enjoy some cuisine before getting ready.

2. Travel in style. Instead of entering the church in your Sedan, rent out a limo instead. It's elegant, spacey enough for the entire wedding party, and you'll have time to relax as the limousine driver drives you to your destination. You might even have time to enjoy a glass of champagne or two! When you step out of the limo, and your dress' train falls elegantly as you walk away, you will truly be the star of your big day.

3. Personalize the ceremony. Instead of incorporating a simple Catholic mass, personalize it with singers, special readings, or a different spin on "Here Comes the Bride." Hire a singer or two to sing a special song during the ceremony. Have a friend read a special passage from the Bible or religious text of choice. Instead of hiring an organist, hire a guitarist instead for a relaxed, casual ceremony. When you infuse your personal touch to your ceremony, both your spouse-to-be and guests will remember it for life.

4. Delegate your responsibilities. Your wedding is indeed a large production for the woman. She is the star of the show, so it is important that she only focus on the most important event of the day - sharing it with your spouse-to-be. She should delegate. Ahead of time, make sure that all of your bridesmaids and groomsmen have their share of responsibilities, so she only has the responsibility of enjoying her big day.

5. Create a fun reception. Instead of creating a reception that simply the traditional fare, infuse your personality into the festivities. Remember, a reception gives all of your guests an opportunity to celebrate your bond with your soul mate - and give them an ability to express their excitement! You may want to hire both a traditional band and a DJ, who will both play songs that will have the crowd, young and old, on their feet. Or, you could hire an instructor to teach your guests a fun dance. When your guests have fun, they celebrate your lifelong bond - and remember your wedding forever.

Ready to walk down that aisle? By following these simple steps, you will enjoy a memorable wedding you and your guests will remember for ages. Wedded bliss does not have to be traditional - infuse your personality and your wedding day will be marked in history.

DJ Equipment Prices

Music makes the world go round and people would lead monotonous lives were it not for this great gift. Music does not need to be dissected and comprehended to be appreciated. It simply carries people off in rhythm and melody to a land where the imagination rules and the laws of this world are no longer applicable.

Music can be enjoyed in many forms. Some people choose to sing, others choose to play an instrument, and yet others bring all other forms of music together to entertain a crowd. The last category is at times, referred to as disc jockeys or DJs for short and their job is perhaps the toughest of the lot. Not only do they require a deep understanding of music and its various forms, but they also need to be aware of the popular demand. A DJ's job is highly technical. There is a large variety of sensitive electronic equipment that DJs must learn to handle efficiently if they are to be successful. These machines are generally very expensive and new models come out every day so what was state-of-the-art yesterday becomes quite redundant in a week's time. DJs have to be savvy about the latest offerings on the market and know the best prices for all these products.

Basic single turntables for beginners start at about $100 and with increase in professional level, quality and size, the price can go up to a thousand dollars. CD players are generally more expensive although they are available at every electronic store. The average price can range between $200 and $2000 depending upon output and features. Mixers again vary in quality and utility. Professional that cater to a large crowds need advanced models which can cost as much as $2500 whereas amateurs just getting their feet wet can make do with cheap ones worth about $100. Accessories such as lighting, fog machine, and studio equipment are necessary only when people wish to stick to DJing as a life-long profession. Even then, such investment should be made only when people are certain of their positions in the music industry. If all this seems too expensive, people could start off with computer programs and downloads and work their way up to professional equipment.

The Roots of Rock and Roll

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
dj

Every fan of rock and roll needs a history lesson in order to appreciate why rock music is what it is today. While its origins probably date back decades and decades ago, the 50's is a very good place to start our understanding of this kind of music.

Rock and roll was said to be first used by a DJ named Alan Freed, taken from the song "My Baby Rocks me with a Steady Roll." Rock and roll is a form of popular music originating in the United States in the 1950's. Its style started as rhythm and blues, but is identifiable by the use of electric guitars, interesting lyrics (put in simple phrase structures), and a strong rhythm. It also incorporates various musical styles such as country music and gospel.

Among the pioneers of rock music are these artists: Bill Haley and His Comets, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Buddy Holly.

Bill Haley and His Comets came out with the song "Rock Around the Clock" in 1954, and was an instant hit to the kids across America and England who finally found a fast-paced song to dance to (or "rock out" to). This they did non-stop until 1955. The song became the best-selling record of the year, and is now considered the seminal rock and roll song.

In 1955, Elvis Presley recorded and released his breakout hits, "Heartbreak Hotel," and "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You." These songs, of course will go down in history as classic rock music (although more bluesy than other songs in this genre during that time), and Elvis, will ascend as the King of Rock and Roll.

Then, there is also Jerry Lee Lewis, with his hit "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On", released in 1957. He invented a style which infused his trademark single chord, piano solo. Buddy Holly, with his smash hit, "Peggy Sue" took over the airwaves with a song about a girl-the quintessential girl of the fifties, with her innocent smile and cute pigtails. Peggy Sue, however, never ages. The song is among the most memorable hits of the era.

The fifties was truly a great era for rock music. While it did not contain any social and political themes, or electrifying guitar solos, which identified rock music that came out years later, its energy and originality win us over. We now call them "oldies", music that ushered in a more contemporary, and more gritty (less bluesy) kind of music. Still, the fifties was definitely fabulous.

And although rock originated almost 50 years ago, it still is around today! In fact, many people are blogging about rock music, or just turning on their local radio station.

If you like rock and roll, you'll love my daily rock and roll blog.

How many couples are stil paying for their wedding on their 5 year wedding anniversary? Is it worth going into massive debt for your wedding day? When you get married, there is no good reason to get married to your overdraft as well. I'm going to show you ways and means of saving money on planning your wedding, and still having the day you want - without compromise.

I got married in April 2007 - total cost of wedding, just under £8000. What did we get for that?

  • Exclusive use of a 17th century castle with 19 bedrooms, including accommodation and full English Breakfast for the guests (50% discount - getting married on a Sunday) - £2500
  • A converted barn with additional 10 bedrooms (reserved the whole barn, and got a discount) - £600
  • Wedding gown, tiara, veil, shoes and 3 bridesmaids dresses plus jewellery (10% discount on wedding dress, 50% sale items bridesmaids dress, jewellery bought at a home party) - £1100
  • Bridal hair and make-up (used local suppliers) - £150
  • 3-course wedding breakfast (50% discount for a Sunday) - £1800
  • Unlimited pre-wedding breakfast drinks, and champagne toast - £350
  • Classical string quartet (3 hours) - £350
  • DJ evening - £200
  • Flowers for bride, bridesmaids , buttonholes and guests tables (re-used altar flowers for top table) - £220
  • Photographer - Leather bound wedding album and 200 photographs (negotiated discounted price for all photos taken). - £650

Wow - you must be thinking. And that's what I thought too. But with a lttle bit of research and work, it can be posible for everyone.

The Money side of things

If you have to borrow any money to get married, then take a look at 0% interest credit cards. (yes, they still exist - I have just signed up for one that has given me £6000 interest free credit until September 2009). You can then budget and pay off your card over a period of time - without incurring any interest charges. Check out the best bank loans with the lowest interest charges.

The Venue

If you decide not to get married on a Saturday, there can be considerable savings. Getting married on a weekday, or bridging the weekend by marrying on Friday or Sunday reduces the cost of your venue. We got married on a Sunday, and saved 50% on the overall cost of our reception - venue hire and meal. If you live in an expensive area - why not get married where it is less expensive and have your guests travel to the venue of your choice - that's what we did.

Bridal Wear

You don't have to wear new! There is a big second hand, nearly new bridal market. Oxfam has numerous bridal shops devoted to the second hand bridal wear market. Check-out the internet for specialist second hand , nearly new bridal wear directories. You can save upto 75% off the cost of a new dress. Look out for end of season sales for wedding dresses, every bridal shop has them to make room for next year's stock. Check out high street shops for your bridesmaids dresses - especially at sale time. We saved 50% on the bridesmaids dresses because they were in the pre-Xmas sale.

Visit craft fairs for wedding jewellery - there are many crafters who make the most amazing wedding jewellery at a fraction of the price of a retail shop.

Wedding Stationery

Card craft shops can sell you everything you need to make your own wedding invitations. I personaly made all of mine. total cost £25.00 for 40 invitiations. Not only that - they are fun to make. Print your own Save the Date cards by buying some pretty paper postcards (specialist stationery shops sell them).

If you are having wedding favours on the tables, then these can also act as your place name cards by tying a label on with the guests name.

Wedding favours - checkout the internet for favour bags - fill with your choice. We chose miniature spirits for the men, and loose lavendar for the ladies.

The Flowers

Buttonholes - if using a single flower such as a rose, this can be very stylish and elegant - and with a herb sprig is easy to make yourself.

Try clever tricks with candles and lighting before filling every space in your venue with flowers. If you are marrying in a registry office, reuse the flowers on the altar table to place on the top table. Place empty vases on the top table which can then hold the brides and bridesmaids flowers. Mirrors under vases on guests tables can create a dazzling effect without using lots of flowers.

If you are marrying in a church, you can decorate the pews with ribbon rather than flowers - considerably cheaper. Think about using lots of greenery in your floral displays instead of flowers.

Feeding your guests

Difficult one, as the guests will expect a meal. If you get married late in the day then the wedding breakfast alone should be sufficient. If you are having extra guests in the evening, then only cater for 60% otherwise the food (and your money) will be wasted. Barbeques can be cost effective, buffet style. Hire a hog roast and have a few salads. If you are thinking of self-catering, then rally around your friends and relatives and with some helpers and a small wedding, lay on a finger buffet.

The Drink

Some venues will let you supply your own drinks without penalty. A trip to France can save you loads. Be careful though, as some venues will charge you corkage, which can then cost more than having the venue supply the wine.

Ask the venue to quote you for a package that includes drinks - welcome drink, wine during the meal, and champagne toast. Most guests these days expect to pay for their drinks outside of the wedding breakfast - so you can set up a paid bar.

Happy Snaps

Don't be tempted to buy disposable cameras for the guests tables and have those as your wedding photos. They are usually of poor quality, and not pictures of what you want. If you have some friends who are interested in photography, then appoint them to be your official photographers. Digital cameras are great - they can download the photos onto a smart stick, and there are numerous internet sites that will create a wedding album for you.

We could have saved even more on costs, by not paying for guest accommodation, or not having unlimited wine before the meal - but that was our choice. I hope this gives you some ideas on having the wedding you want without breaking the bank, and for some great suppliers to the wedding industry, click here.
