Rafi Michael posts:

Disc Jockeys in Ontario, Mississauga and other parts of Canada continue to dominate the more contemporary music scene as witnessed by their popularity even as Professional Toronto DJs. Their MC services are characterized by their use of portable sound engineering equipment and this is also characteristic of Toronto wedding DJ's. Toronto wedding DJ's and DJ's in general play in a variety of styles. However, output quality acts as the biggest determinant of rankings in this industry. The top ten celebrity DJ's as voted by world industry experts are as listed below:

Tiesto, a professional DJ, is the foremost DJ in Holland. His DJ services are considered the worlds' best. Tiesto has gained fans across the world and this is largely attributed to his prolific DJ entertainment style. Another resident of Holland, Armino's interests lie in a wide range of genres and these include electronica and punk, which has earned him a prestigious second spot as a DJ entertainer.

Germany plays host to Paul Van **** who is third best and also a Toronto Wedding DJ. Against a backdrop of popularly revered records, Paul worked with MFS, a well known underground label. Paul maintains that his true calling is as a DJ to live audiences and has been known to offer unbeatable party packages to his fans. Andre Tanneberger is best known for his electronic music club releases and his live performances. Andre has consistently proven himself as a professional Toronto DJ. This planetary outlook earns him a place among the best in world rankings.

Carl Cox materialized as a professional Toronto DJ, what with his repertoire as a producer and dance music mixer. The United Kingdom is his best bet for a loud fan base but this does not dampen his success as a professional Toronto DJ. Carl's successes include his work as a Toronto DJ. Thirty-year-old Sasha was born in Wales. His innate ability to communicate with his audience is perhaps responsible for his success as a Professional Toronto DJ. Today, Sasha continues to dazzle crowds even as a Toronto wedding DJ. Ferry Corsten ranks in at number seven and has evolved musically to cut out his niche as a professional Toronto DJ. His first attempts were in 1997 and by October of 1999, he had been determined as 'Producer of the Year' and as an acclaimed Toronto Wedding DJ.

Deep Fish ranks in as the eighth best and are the best known duo in the world of DJing. Their professionalism and success as Professional Toronto DJs has earned them much respect even as Toronto Wedding DJs. The ninth best DJ is David Guetta who is also a professional Toronto DJ. He started with *** clubs as his prime fan base. Today he has grown critically acclaimed for his wide array of fusions and plays at such spots as Ibiza. He is also a Toronto Wedding DJ.

John Digweed ranks in tenth and is widely known for his producer techniques at his famous Bedrock Club events. John also acts as a Professional Toronto DJ and Toronto Wedding DJ. Thus, he continues to rank among the top ten DJ's in the world.

Las Vegas Disc Jockey John Dote' Produced Theme From Dallas

Airs Next: CBS at Friday 9:00 PM (60 min.)

Status: Ended Premiered: April 2, 1978 Last Aired: May 3, 1991

Show Categories: Drama, Soap

More Pictures In the ranks of prime-time dramas, this was one of the biggest.

Dallas, the saga of the Ewing Family, began as a five part mini-series in 1978. Throughout it's thirteen seasons, many actors passed through the gates of Southfork. Below are the main cast, but in addition you find throughout the episode synopsis, many other faces, some familiar, some soon to be familiar faces creating drama for the Ewings!

In the late 1960's, Peyton Place was a nighttime serial drama success—a novelty at the time. But since then, no P.M. show had caught the soap opera crowd's attention… until Dallas. The show first went on the air for a five week run in early 1978, and then fell into a Saturday nighttime slot later that year.

Ratings were fair, but they were nothing compared to when the show moved to Friday nights, when the ratings well didn't run dry for a long, long time.

The Ewing family lived at the sprawling South Fork ranch, in hoity-toity Braddock County just outside Dallas. Like any good power family, there was a matriarch and patriarch, and three sons— this core group, their extensive romantic relations, and the Barnes clan of rival oilers were all Jacobs needed to create a self-contained histrionic world of intrigue, dysfunction and passion. Borrowing from Romeo and Juliet, the youngest Ewing boy, Bobby, fell for a beautiful Barnes girl. And with a nod to the biblical Cain and Abel, Bobby and older brother J.R. didn't exactly play nice with each other like you might expect brothers to. Whereas J.R. was nearly a hundred percent scoundrel, Bobby had discernable streaks of honesty and integrity…but that patented Ewing viciousness certainly reared its head once in a while. The South Fork ranch housed Jock and Miss Ellie, the king and queen of South Fork, J.R. and long-suffering wife Sue Ellen, and Bobby and Pamela…though why they all lived under one roof demands a little poetic license, because money certainly wasn't a problem, and it wasn't like there was a whole lot of binding inter-family harmony.

Here's just a taste of the drama devices that ensued: insane asylums, car accidents, affairs, illegitimate children, gunfights, fistfights, catfights, lies, drinking problems (both real and imagined), poufy 80's hairstyles for the ladies and best of all, notorious season finale cliffhangers.

The most famous, of course, came at the end of the 1979-80 season, when a mysterious late-night intruder shot J.R. in the chest while he was toiling away at the office one night. The resulting "Who Shot J.R.?" publicity raced around the globe, because by that time, Dallas was an international hit in just about every developed country in the world. Odds on the shooter's identity were figured, bets were placed, and theories were construed– since there were about fifteen possible candidates, fans and pundits were kept very busy indeed. Don't read the next part of this sentence if you want to remain one of the few of-age humans who doesn't know whodunit… it was Kristin, J.R.'s scorned sister-in-law and recent romantic entanglement.

Dallas was conceived as a show that had plenty of *** and romance for the female audiences, and a lot of cowboy posturing and business intrigue for the male viewers. The formula worked, because by the early 1980's, it was one of the most popular shows in TV history. There were magazine covers galore, a spin-off named Knots Landing about Gary, the middle Ewing son who wasn't seen or heard from much during proceedings at South Fork, and primetime serialization imitators like Dynasty and Falcon Crest.

So for the show that kicked off the nighttime drama trend that's status quo today, we tip those ten-gallon hats and breathe a secret sigh of relief that J.R. was just a fictional character who couldn't manipulate us in real life. Because let's be honest, that guy could have taken most of us down.

In 1986, John Dote' produced the soundtrack theme from Dallas on American Artists Records which charted at number 6. The theme was removed from radio, but then re-added when Dote' hired Little Richards promotion men.

Sarika Kabra posts:

You would have seen and heard a disc jockey or a DJ in short performing on radios, in clubs, weddings, store openings and other occasions. The job of a DJ seems like a roller coaster ride. Doesn’t it? You are having fun, dancing and performing, you attend great parties and also earn decent money in the bargain. Can there be another profession which will allow you to have fun and earn at the same time? Yes, DJ is one of a few such job openings. But remember it is not simply fun that goes into making a good DJ - you would need to put in lot of efforts to make a mark in the field. Let us give you some idea about how to make a career as a successful DJ.

Well, there are a few ingredients which make a good DJ. First of course is immense love for music. A DJ has to have more than just fair knowledge, and a flair for various classes of music such as Classic, Rock, Folk, dance etc. He should be a good conversationalist and should have a great sense of humor. He should also love and enjoy the company of people and lastly have immense presence of mind. If you have all that, the field is open for you to make your own mark.

There are various types of disc jockey jobs available in the market. You can work as one in a radio station. You can work as a club DJ. Here you would work in night clubs, hotels, bars and stadiums. You would host programs on AM/FM satellite channels and be the face of the channel. As a mobile DJ, you will be on your own. You would be having your own studio equipment, recordings and works. You will be traveling to private parties, functions, weddings, corporate events, outings and dance parties.

DJs are more than mere music buffs. They are great performers, dancers, composers and have an eye for detail. They always need to be on their toes to give a decent performance. They also need to connect to the audience and hence need to understand the dynamics of music and various mixing techniques, music software and audio mastering technology to bring a novelty to their performance.

As a DJ, you will also need to have fair bit of idea about typical DJ equipment. This includes digital music recording systems, music players such as CD players, MP3 players and other digital musical players, sound systems, mixers, micro phones, head phones, synthesizers etc. If you are a mobile DJ, you would need to know how to do trouble shooting on most of the occasions.

Having done all that, the next logical question is how to start in the profession. Well, there is just one mantra for success. Practice and more practice. Talk in front of a mirror as if you were performing before a discerning audience. Get used to listening to your own voice. A very important tip as you need to be comfortable with your diction and style to be at ease. In the initial stages, grab any opportunity that comes your way of performing. Be it at your friend’s place or your own private function, prepare well to perform. Work to hone your talents, and the world is your oyster!

I was a DJ back in the day of, "Two turntables and a microphone," but I want to get back into the DJ business. I am have a laptop and a home computer and am interested in what type of DJ equipment to get if I want to DJ with my laptop and CDs instead of lugging around the "coffin" with my turntables. I am all for buying used equipment if it is reliable and while I want to go lean and inexpensive that doesn’t mean I want to go cheap and low quality. Any suggestions?

I have put as many keywords in our website as possible but we do not get very many site hits a day. If you type in Sacramento DJ in google, our craigslist listing comes up in about the second page. I am just looking for a way to get our name and website out there for DJing in the Sacramento, CA area. Anyone know of any good DJ databases or lists that would be worthwhile joining? Thanks!

Regarding a Disc Jockey's full color mail-out brochure, does High Gloss = High Cost? Not necessarily. And very often, the opposite is true.

It's not a certainty about the one you may receive, but national printers sell professionally designed, glossy brochures to DJs by exclusive territory and classification (Wedding, Corporate, etc.) and simply plug in each local DJ's logo and phone number. The descriptions and photographs are usually generic! Those same partygoers sure get around.

You can tell by noting if specific DJ information is found on the front and back covers ONLY. Is it sneaky? Is it credible? Does it matter? Should you care? You decide. It's not the end of the world, it's just another DJ sales technique, or it may indicate an agency.

If you choose to speak with an agency and bypass discussion with the DJ who will perform at your party, you're walking on eggshells. So watch your step!

Agencies subcontract a crew of DJs (keeping a liberal amount of the fee for booking them). A benefit agencies promote is that they're able to provide a replacement in the event of an emergency. OK, so? Although they stress the fear factor to favor themselves over an individual, an emergency isn't probable. You're not booking an insurance policy. Besides, all decent single operators network too, and can offer the same assurance.

So is it money well spent? Remember the old Wendy's commercials: "Where's The Beef?"

What else do they offer? If you're hiring a "name" who works exclusively for the agent, that's fine. But if you're getting a guy from their stable, find out who's been assigned to your party. Does he favor a tuxedo or a backwards baseball cap? Even if the agency has been around for years, he may be newly trained or hired last week. You're spending big $$$...buy experience!

If the agency won't allow you and your assigned Disc Jockey to speak together without the agency as an intermediary, assume the worst and walk away. Quickly. The DJ will be more frank and/or you'll be able to judge his experience (or lack of experience) without Big Brother watching (or listening).

At a large catering hall which divides into four separate banquet rooms, I recently ran into a local booking agency's DJ as we were both unloading our equipment for different affairs. He came in to check out my set-up and did everything but drool. I walked into the adjoining room and saw his "gear." It looked like a DJ starter kit from Circuit City. Actually that's unfair to Circuit City. Make that Toys-R-Us. (You know something? It's almost unfair to Toys-R-Us, too!)

He volunteered to me that the agency was paying him a $35 per hour fee. Here's a fellow who was content to go home with $140 in his wallet that night (before taxes). Is it any wonder that he couldn't afford a professional system?

Anyone who's been around for a while wouldn't pack up his vehicle for $140. The key is that the agency booked the job for $400 ("Return Your Contract Within Ten Days And Receive A Special Discount From Our Regular $500 Fee"). Of course, what the customer ultimately received was an $140 Disc Jockey, not a $400 (or $500) DJ. Please note: This one example may not be typical and it's certainly not meant to impugn respectable and reputable agencies, of which there are plenty. But, it is not extreme.

What do you think would have happened if this DJ received a last minute phone call from Agency "B" for a job that would pay him $250 cash that evening? It's obvious. He's a mercenary and a likely no-show nightmare for you. Re-read that last sentence.

And if Agency "A" subsequently fired him, so what? What's Agency "A" going to do? Take him to court for $140? He's a subcontractor out for himself with no vested interest in the agency. Nor is he indebted to you. He's never even spoken to you! He doesn't have a conscience. What he would have is an extra $110 in his pocket for the same amount of work. But where would that leave YOU?

Be aware, not wary hiring through a booker. Do they have office space or handle everything over the phone? Can they offer advice regarding invitations, photographers, light shows, dancers, sign-in boards, prizes and party favors? They're a bargain and worth the extra expenditure if they assume the full burden. I want to be clear: many agencies are conscientious and exemplary. If you've gotten personal referrals--perfect! Dump it all in their lap. If not, PLEASE request professional references. Not glossy brochures.
